Savannah woke up the next morning and just laid in bed, thinking about how she told Shawn that she may not be coming back next summer. It was a jerkish kind of way to have said it but how else was she suppose to tell everyone? Tell him, her heart had been broken that year by him and she didn't know how to face him where everything had been so perfect to a year before but now torn to pieces because of her so called best friend.
"Savannah, sweetie. Jessie's here," Savannah heard her mother yell, probably from outside her door. Savannah rolled her eyes and got out of bed. Wobbling her way to the door, she openned it and seen the blonde standing in front of her.
"What do you want?" Savannah asked, after her mother had walked down the steps and Jessie was inside her room. "Because last I remember, we and you were far from friends. Do you remember why?" Savannah said, her voice cracking while she spoke.
"I'm not sure if I'm going back to him, I mean, he's clearly not over you," Jessie said, taking a seat in one of the stages. Savannah squinted at her and sat on the bed, crossing her exposed legs. Considering she was in Shawn's T-Shirt that she had stolen the year before. "He broke up with me to think about who he wanted to be with and if he loved me or wanted me he wouldn't need to think," Jessie explained, it was clear in Savannah's eyes that she alread knew that.
"But, I don't think I can go back to him. The summer, he broke my heart into pieces and it was clear he didn't care. He fell for you, why go back to the one who fell for someone else?" Savannah practically shouted. Shawn, two doors down, heard the shout and tried his best to stay in his room. "He broke my heart, after toying with it for almost two years...I'm not sure I could go back down that road."
"He loves you, he never loved me. What will it take for you to believe that?" Jessie asked, she had let go of her hurt and betrayal because she wanted her best friend back. The one that she knew would have encouraged her and Shawn if they did stay together. Jessie saw Savannah's intake of breathe and watched as she turned to look at the white wall instead of her.
"Stay away from him," Savannah mumbled. She looked at her and sighed again. "Leave him alone and don't interfeer with him. Like, not talk to him. If he wants it to work he will go a long with these conditions and so will you," Savannah said, with her eyes closed. She couldn't look at Jessie while saying this, the more she spoke to her the more her heart broke.
"Vanna. Don't give up on him," Jessie whispered walking towards her best friend and looked into her brown eyes. "He loves you,he never loved me and he never would considering he gave you everything and you gave him just as much. Give him one more chance and if it doesn't work out...blame me."
"Yeah...one more chance," Savannah said, rolling her brown eyes before standing up. "Do you realize how hard it is for one to go back to someone who had hurt them so much?" Savannah asked, tears in her eyes. She wiped a tear that had fallen off of her cheek before letting out a humorless laugh. "It's harder then it would seem."
"Just think about it," Jessie told her, before walking over, giving her a feather light kiss on the cheek before leaving. Once Jessie had shut the door, she started to hyperventilate wiping at her eyes furiously hoping, and praying that the tears would stop falling. She heard the door open and the shallow breathing of someone knew spent too much time with the summer before.
"I understand, that you don't trust me. I wouldn't either but...I am in love with you Savannah," Shawn said, standing awkwardly by the door.
"I, I believe that but...what am I suppose to do when you break my heart again? Act like you mean nothing like I tried to do this summer but failed because I kept pushing away my best friend?" Savannah asked, she moved closer to the boy looking into his eyes that showed nothing but emotion. "The only way you get me back is to fight for me...fight for us," Savannah whispered, placing her small hand on the side of his face.
Shawn looking into Savannah's eyes not seeing the girl that he had fallen in love with the year before...but instead a broken one. One that he didn't recognize. "I love you and nothing you can do can change that," Shawn said, cupping her face. She smiled a tight smile up at him before turning her face away, but Shawn went into her view again. Before she could turn away from him again, he kissed her. She was reluctant at first but then gave in with wrapping her arms around his neck pulling herself closer to him.
She surprised herself when she deeped the kiss, she heard a throat being cleared in the doorway and broke away. "Mom," Savannah said, seeing her mother standing by the door in tears once again. "Mom, what's going on?"
"Get your things, I'm done with your father's bullshit," She told her before walking down the stairs. Savannah finally got the nerve and shook her head.
"I'm not going with you," Savannah yelled running after her mother. "I'm staying here with dad. Whether you and Dad finally decide to get over yourselfs and go get that divorce. I'll be staying with dad," Savannah told her, her mother turned around and looked at her daughter. Complete shock written all over her face.
"Your father isn't a good man-"
"Yes he is. You just don't see it, he's the best person I have ever met because he had to live with you for 17 years!" Savannah said, before turning around and marching up the steps. She knew she left Shawn in a sort of bad place because she ran out angry, so she went to his room and sat on his bed next to where he was sitting.
"Is it really done between them?" Shawn asked, Savannah nodded and leaned her head on his shoulder. He smiled and wrapped his arm around her, he knew that they were far from okay but it meant he had a chance to make things write.
"Promise me one thing," Savannah whispered. "If I give you another chance don't let us turn out like my parents," She smiled hoping he'd get the hint. He must have got it because within seconds she was eloped into a hug.
"I promise."
