Chapter 14

Chapter 14 : A long week passed

Well it's been the longest week ever, Soda and Darry read the paper me and Dal tried to hide from them, Soda wrote a letter and asked me to send it to Ponyboy, me being the person I am, I sent it for him.
But tomorrow morning Dal and I are going to get them, FINALLY.
Dally said we should go to sleep earlier so we leave earlier, and hopefully no one notices us gone.
It's 9:30 and we're in bed, the music is extremely loud tonight, and Dal is getting ticked off about it.
He screams out to Buck to turn it down and they do so, we finally get drowsy and fall asleep.
We wake up around 6 am, We get dressed really quick and get out the door, we get in Dals car and off we go to Jay mountain.

It's been a long drive and we just got to the church, Pony has blonde hair and Johnny's hair is all cut real short, Johnny looks good with short hair, Pony looks kinda funny with blonde hair.
We get in the car and go to DQ, we get some food, I ain't never seen Pony or Johnny eat so much food. We go back to the church on jay mountain to find it on fire, there's kids inside and Ponyboy and Johnny jump in through the window to save the kids I couldn't do it, I was too afraid and the next thing I knew we were on our way to the hospital. 
I drove in the car and followed the ambulance to the closest hospital, I felt my heart pounding in my stomach, I have never been as scared as I am right now. I've gone through hurt by being hit, but this is a different kind of hurt, the kind that you have no control over, I could have left my parents sooner than I did, but this, all I can think is "God don't take my boys" I've never been the churchy type, I've never prayed before, but I just might do it if it means my boys are safe.
We pull into the hospital, I jump out of the car, and run to the ambulance, the paramedics are pulling out Dally, I see he's awake and swearing on Ponyboy and Johnny for going into the church, he'll be ok.
I see the second ambulance and the paramedics pull out Ponyboy, he seems like hell he Ok, and then there's Johnny.
I turn to the third ambulance, I see Johnny being hauled out, his skin is all burnt and he's not conscious he's laying there, he looks almost dead. I run after them into the hospital, and try to follow them the rest of the way but I'm stopped by a nurse named Janet, she has a full uniform on and looks ready to operate.
"I'm afraid you'll have to wait out here" she says putting her hand out to stop me
"But, that's my brother, and boyfriend and a close friend" I say back
"A doctor will come find you, when someone is doing ok. Until then, please just try to keep calm in the waiting room. I'll see to it that you're brought in as soon as possible" she says and runs to catch up with Johnny
I sit down in the waiting room, my heart on my sleeve, I didn't even know I had been crying this whole time, I should call Darry and Soda. 
I dial the number and listen to it ring.
"Hello? Curtis residence" says Darry, sounding very distraught
"Darry, it's Amber. Ponyboy Dally and Johnny got in a bad accident, we're at the hospital and they won't let me see them, we just got here" I say crying harder
"What hospital?" He asks, I tell him the info and he says he'll be here as soon as possible, I hang up and sit back into the seat. I sit there crying my eyes out, I'm so scared for Johnnys life, I can't lose him. I just can't.

Almost half an hour later a doctor who looks very annoyed come out to me
"Amber Cade?" He Asks
"That's me"
"Dallas Winston is ready for visitors, he's been asking for you" I can hear Dally yelling in the back room
"Ok Thank you" I say and start walking to dally's room, I walk in to see him with a cast on his arm.
"Hey doll" he says
"Hey Dal, How you feeling?" I ask
"My arm kind of hurts, but I'm alright. How's Johnny and Ponyboy man?"
"I don't know, Johnny looks real bad Dal, I can't lose him" I start crying again
"Hey. Don't talk like that, he's a tough kid he'll be ok" Darry says, the gang walks into Dals room and sits around us
"So what happened?" Asked Soda
"The church was on fire, there were these kids in there. Johnny and Ponyboy went in to save them, and I had to drag pony and Johnny out of there" Dal says trying to light a cancer stick.
"Yeah, Johnny's not looking too good" I add
"How's pony?" Asked a nervous Darry
"He looked ok, he was awake. Just had a lot of sut on him, I think he'll be ok" I answer
The doctor comes in the room,
"Who is responsible for Ponyboy Curtis?" She asks
"That's me"  Darry stands
"He's Alright, he's asking for you guys. You can go see him now if you want" she replies
"Ok Thank you, Thank you so much" Darry says smiling
"Room 7b" she answers and walks out proudly
Thank god, two of three are all ok, I hope I can say Johnny will be ok.
