Chapter 2: Hanging Out

We're in class, Pony and I, we're all in English lit. Pony's in the zone, and I'm listening to the teacher.
He's going on about William Shakespeare's, Hamlet. I really enjoyed it, it was so good.
Before I knew it the bell rang and we got to head home, I grabbed my books and pony and I headed to our lockers, they're right next to each other. I put my books away and put my bag on my back Johnny and two came up behind us,
"You guys ready? We wanna go to the dingo" said two
"Yeah, I'm ready let's go" I say and we walk to the dingo
When we get to the dingo there's a bunch of socs and greasers outside messing around, and there's two socs beating up a greaser. We ignore it and walk inside, Two offers to pay but we say no and all pay for our own food except Johnny, he wouldn't let me pay for mine. He always pays for me, it's pretty sweet but it's always nice to feel independent sometimes.  We sat down in our favourite booth and started eating, in came Soda and Steve, on their lunch break I assume.
They sat down with us and got some food to eat, it was now just the 6 of us, just messing around and laughing
"So, Rosie how was school?" Asked Steve
"It was alright, hows work?" I asked him back, we don't talk much, Steve and I, we don't have much to talk about most of the time he'll just pick me and throw me around horse playing and such, cause I'm so short and tiny it's not that hard.
"It's cool" he nodded
Pony and Johnny are talking about how them and Dal are going to the movies tonight, Soda and Steve are talking about taking their girlfriends out on a double date tonight, and then there Two, talking about how much he's gonna drink tonight, and I of course have ZERO plans, I'll probably figure something out.
We left the dingo and Steve and Soda went back to the DX, Two took off to someplace with Johnny. So now once again it's just pony and I, I don't mind, he's a good guy.
We talked about school and the movie they were going to see, until he asked me the big question everyone in the gang has been asking me lately especially Johnny.
"So Amber.. are you gonna move in with Darry Soda and me?" He asked with his hands in his pockets and his head to the ground, his foot kicking at nothing.
"I'm not sure Pone, it's not that easy, my dad would probably kill me if he caught me"
"Well, doesn't he work tonight?" He asked
"Yeah why?"
"Well what about your mom?" He asked
"Probably gonna be at the bar" I answered "what's with the questions? What are you conjuring up?" I asked him
"Well, it's a long shot but, why don't you move in tonight? I mean they won't be home dal me and Johnny could take you! That way Johnny could get some of his stuff too!" He said standing in front of me, I was shaking at the thought of it, yet I was so excited.
"pony! " I screamed he stepped back "I'm scared" I said
"It's ok Amber, you don't have to do it tonight, you tell me whenever you're ready to, and I'll help you" he said pulling me into a hug
"Thanks Pony" I said as a tear ran down my cheek, I wiped it away and acted like it didn't happen.
"Don't worry Amber we're here for you" he said

We walked back to his house, we went in and it was empty, "just us" pony said. I nodded and sat on the couch turning on the tv and pony joined me.
After about half an hour, Dally came in and Sat down right next to me,
"Hey dal what up?" I asked
"Oh not much, just been a boring day" he said
"So dal when we going to the movie?" Pony asked
"Ughh I don't know. When Johnny comes back I guess " he groaned and pony nodded
"So whatcha say Rosie, you wanna come too?" Dally asked looking at me furrowing his eyebrows I usually can't go with them cause Johnny's afraid I'll get hurt or something but maybe he'll let me go tonight
"I'd love to, but would Johnny let me?" I asked
"Don't worry 'bout johnnycake you can come" he answered, wow I might actually get to go this time

The 3 of us just sat there watching tv goofing around and eating food waiting for all the guys to come home,, when they finally did Dally finally brought up the movie
"So Johnny, uh Rosie wants to go to the movie" he said my jaw dropped and dal laughed
"You couldn't ask him any possible way better than that. You said I could go and not to worry about him"  said punching him in the shoulder as he snickered
"It's Alright Rose. You can go" he said "you don't need my permission just tell me where you're going sometimes is all I ask" he said
"Ok Johnny... Thanks!" I say and he nods
