After saying her goodbyes to Han and Chewie, Ace trooped off towards the Main Hangar Deck. Gathered in the center of the hangar was a small group of pilots, just under twenty five, all surrounding Leia. Managing to sneak into the back of the group, Ace struggled to hear what Leia had to say.

"All troop carriers will assemble at the north entrance." Leia told them, her voice filled with a sense of urgency. "The heavy transport ships will leave as soon as they're loaded. Only two fighter escorts per ship. The energy shield can only be opened for a very short time, so you'll have to stay very close to your transports."

"Two fighters against a star destroyer?" Asked a pilot named Hobbie.

Leia nodded. "The ion cannon will fire several shots to make sure that any enemy ships will be out of your flight path. When you've gotten past the energy shield, proceed directly to the rendezvous point. Understood?"

A brief mumbling thrummed through the group, everyone shifting, looking anxious but ready for the perilous task.

"Good luck." Leia told them, her lips pursed, her eyes betraying her true emotions.

"Okay." Derlin clapped his hands together, "Everyone to your stations. Let's go!"

"Echo Six-Ace!" Shouted General Rieekan, jogging over towards her as the group of pilots and Leia began to disperse, "You're meant to assist in the ground assault."

"But-how?" Asked Ace, frowning. "Those are two man aircrafts, Lily's in Naboo."

"We've gotten you a gunner," Rieekan told her, "Archie Conley, he's preparing your snowspeeder and waiting over there." He gestured about 100 yards across the hangar, where Ace couldn't see because of how chaotic the hangar was.

"Oh-alright." Shrugged Ace, "May the Force be with you, General."

Hurrying away from him, Ace scurried through the thick mass of pilots, officers, gunners, and troopers. All were headed for vehicles or rushing around to ensure the evacuation would be going smoothly. Shouldering past everyone, Ace kept her eyes forward and then they met with a pair of bright blue ones.

     Luke.

"Skywalker." Muttered Ace, nodding her head as she tried to move past him, but he tried to stop her.

     "Ace-Wait up!"

"We've got a battle to fight." Ace told him, much harsher than she intended. "Why don't you go get ready for it?"

"I don't get it." Luke cried out, grabbing Ace's shoulder, "What did I️ do? Why are you so mad at me?"

Spinning around, Ace's eyes were narrowed fiercely as she stared him down.

"Think long and hard, farm boy," she practically spat out, her voice laced with a venom unlike any that Luke had ever seen before, "I'm sure you can figure it out."

With that, Ace stalked off, leaving a confused Luke in her wake.

Approaching her snow speeder, Ace peered around, looking for the kid. Anger still flowed in her veins from Luke and she frowned heavily as Archie was nowhere to be found. Where in the galaxy could that kid-

     "Reporting for duty, Ms. Solo!"

Yelping, Ace jumped backwards, her heart racing.

Archie had popped around the corner. He was a young boy, couldn't have been older than sixteen, a fresh-faced, eager kid with silky curls framing his dark face.
