Chapter 4: Halloween Horror

                                                   
It happened on Halloween. Harry   can't decide whether it was his lucky day or unlucky day. Because he had formed an unbreakable bond with one of his friends Hermione Granger. But at the same time he came very close to lose her to a monstrous troll. As he shifted in his bed because of his inability to sleep the day's events started to appear on his mind.

Today started fine as every other day. He and Hermione went to breakfast together. The first class of the day was Charms. Professor Flitwick taught levitation charm that day.

Harry was paired with Sheamus. Hermione was paired with Ron. Professor Flitwick said," Now, remember the nice wrist movement and swish and flick and say the incantation Wingardium Leviosa ".

Everyone tried the spell with the feathers in front of them. But none of them seemed to rise in air. Ron tried to do the spell "Wingardium Leviosarr", he said.

No ,no interuppted Hermione in her bossy tone," You are going to take someone's eye out,besides you are saying it wrong it's Leviosarr not Leviosar. Ron get irritated by her words and spst at her " If you are so bloody clever then do it yourself go, go on ,give it a try". Hermione picked her wand and said the incantation.

The feather started to rise in air. Professor Flitwick looked it and get excited and said, " Everyone see Ms.Granger has done it. Well done. Five points to Gryffindor".

Harry smiled at her encouragingly. Hermione beamed at him. But Ron shrugged in his seat.

When the class was over Ron said to Dean," she is a nightmare,honestly there is no doubt no one can stand her. Suddenly a form started to run pass through them. Harry suddenly realized it as Hermione.  Harry neared Ron dangerously and said to him in low dangerous voice," I think she is not a nightmare and guess what I am not gonna talk to you until you apologize to her Ron". Ron gulped nervously seeing the new side of Harry.

Harry haven't seen Hermione the rest of the day. Harry decided to give Hermione her some privacy to cope up with the recent event. When he had not seen Hermione in the Halloween feast he asked Neville whether he saw Hermione?. Neville said to Harry that Lavender told Parvati that Hermione had been crying in the bathroom all day.

At the same time the doors of the great hall burst open to reveal a pale faced Professor Quirrel came in shouting " Troll in the dungeons thought you ought to know" and he fainted. Chaos erupted in great hall students panicking everywhere. Professor Dumbledore's voice boomed across the great hall "Siiillleeeence  Head students will lead their house students to their common rooms and teachers will follow me to the dungeons."

Harry was suddenly struck by a thought "Hermione ". "She doesn't know about the troll. I have to inform her was the thought running over and over in his mind". With that thought in mind he ran towards the girls bathroom.

But Ron noticed him and set out to the common room. Meanwhile Harry noticed the said troll of about twelve feet entering girls bathroom and he was shell shocked. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him.

When he entered the girls bathroom Hermione was curled in the corner of the bathroom curled up like a ball. The troll was set ready to kill her with it's club. Harry immediately started to distract it by throwing wooden pieces on the troll. But it only got slightest attention from the troll. So he had done something very brave and very foolish at same time.

He jumped near the pile of wastes and jumped upon troll's neck and stuck his wand into it's nose. This definitely got the troll's attention. The troll caught him by the leg and hang him upside down and thrown him across the wall. He caught hit in his chest and fell down. He was sure he caught some broken ribs but it was not important for him at the moment. All he thought was how to save Hermione??.

He caught sight of Hermione's wand near him and he was took it with great struggle and he said the first incantation came to his mind "Wingardium Leviosa". The club suddenly started to rise from it's hand and held it at reasonable height and left it down. It fall on it's head and knocked it out.

After sometime Hermione came over her shock and came over to check Harry. " My wand" Harry winced in pain. Hermione got his wand " Aww troll boogers" she said disgustingly. She helped Harry to stand up when the door banged open to reveal Professor McGonagall, Flitwick, Quirell and Ron. "I saw you Harry and when I understood where you are going I went to get Professor McGonagall ",said Ron. What happened?? asked professor . Hermione started to say I went to look for troll but was cut off by Harry. He told the Professor about how Ron insulted Hermione and why she was in bathroom crying all day.

Harry finally said," Sorry Ron but until you apologize to Hermione I won't be a friend with you. This is my final decision."

" I am very disappointed in you Mr.Weasley. Five points from Gryffindor. And for you Mr.Potter Ten points to you for thinking and saving your friend. Keep it up . Now since I can see your uncomfortable I assume that you have some injury , Ms.Granger please escort Mr.Potter to hospital wing".

When Harry was fixed by Madam Pomfrey (since Harry's damage was not so worse) both Harry and Hermione went to Gryffindor common room hand in hand. When they reached the common room suddenly Hermione engulfed Harry in a bone crushing hug.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you " Hermione said repeatedly crying all over his shoulder. " Shh shh it's okay it's alright he comforted her. When her sob reduced she released her death grip on him. She said in her shaking voice," Thank you Harry if it's not for you I would probably be dead". Harry replied in his soothing voice," Hey that's are what friends for right, Now go to your bed sleep tight" and he started to walk Hermione towards girl's dorm stairs. None of them seemed to realize their holded hands until they reached the stairs.

Both of them understood that they have formed an inseparable bond between them. Both of them shared one last hug and went to their bed. Both of them have known that sleep will not come to them easily that night. After lot of rolling and shifting in their bed finally they went to sleep.
