I climbed into the truck and Kace got in the back, with three other people, Including Bridget. As I turned the key, the engine stalled and I went completely mad and started screaming gibberish into the air. OK, maybe I should just calm down, or maybe I should just continue to have my freak-out. I turned the key again and the car started up. I quickly turned around and sped to headquarters.
We pulled up and I raced out of the truck and started banging on the outside door I had earlier closed from the inside.
"Karma..." Bridget said.
"Ya?"
"The door says push OR pull." She flashed her light on the door and I noticed the sign. Oh. I took out my keys and stuck the key in the lock and unlocked the door.
"KAYDON! Come help get the dresser out of the way." I screamed through the basement. Kaydon appeared in the door way and stared at the people behind me with his jaw on the floor.
"KAYDON!" I yelled at him. He snapped out of it and pushed the dresser thing out of the way.
"Macey, Laura, Jesse, and Gunner, you better come out here!" Kaydon called for them. They came out and immediately looked shocked.
"Hi! I'm Bridget, this is Jackson and Sam. We're from the united states army." The group nodded.
"You're not, like, dead." Laura noticed. They looked at each other and nodded as in saying 'Well, DUH'.
"There's a whole group of them." I told my group.
"About 200 survivors all together." Jackson informed my friends.
"So..." Laura started.
"We need to take you all back to base." Bridget said.
"What?" Macey asked, suddenly wanting to stay isolated.
"Well, we have direct orders from the General to bring any survivors back to base and eventually relocate them to Arizona." Bridget said.
"We're not leaving." Kaydon said firmly. Bridget looked at him worriedly.
"You have to." She told him.
"No, we don't. The is nothing to be a citizen of, therefore we don't have an army, and don't have to follow their instructions." everyone behind Kaydon nodded.
"You guys really want to stay here?" I asked them. Everyone nodded.
"It's for your own good." Bridget said.
"Look, stay out of this." I hissed. Sometimes Bridget can be such a b!tch.
"Fine, I'll tell the General." She spat back. She walked out of the door and the others followed. I closed it and locked it behind them.
"How is that possible?" Macey asked.
"How is what possible?" I asked.
"Well, I though we had already determined that in order to be immune to the disease you had to have someones blood infused with yours? Like how us and Kaydon all had blood transfusions with him." Macey said.
"They must have found a way to make it so you can't get it. Like a vaccine. But not a cure." I said. Macey nodded.
"So what are we thinking about all this?" Gunner asked.
"I think we should go to Arizona to be with the rest of the survivors." I said.
"I think that's a good idea." Jesse spoke up.
"I don't." Kaydon said.
"Well you're not the only one to think about. What if I have my baby?" Macey pointed out.
"What if? Are you planning on NOT having your baby?" Gunner asked confused.
"No, I mean what if no one is around? I mean, it would be nice to have a doctor around to deliver my baby, Karma's great and all, but she's only 16." She said. Jesse nodded.
"I'm not going." Kaydon stated sternly.
"Fine. We'll leave you here." I told him.
"Fine."
"Fine. Everyone pack up and get ready to leave tomorrow, I'll go tell Bridge that we'll go to Arizona." I said and went to the truck.
