"I don't know! I really don't." Bailey crosses her arms and sways to the left, then back to right. Is she really going to be this difficult?
"Come on, please? I really need your help, and you could get something out of it." I try to persuade her into saying yes, but I don't have my hopes up too high at the moment.
"Why should I? You lied to me and Joe." It's actually Joe and I but I'm not about to correct the grim reaper.
"Yes, I know that. But if you do then you could get a shelter, get food that you don't need to steal. And you won't have to be scared of keeping a light on at night." Bailey's eyes look up at me. I never noticed how brown they were before, like chocolate. My stomach grumbles. Oh, I could really go for some chocolate right now.
"Fine, if you won't answer then here's this: meet me at the basketball court three block down in an hour. If not then that means you aren't getting that shelter." Bailey is still stuff as a rock, won't budge.
I walk off and head towards the basketball court. There are a few kids with their families playing ball here. Other than that, nada.
There is a long silver pole that I lean against, not rest supporting of my back, though. It's hard and stiff.
Kind of like Bailey.
I didn't know weather or not Joe wanted to come with me but he didn't speak up if he did want to.
Leaves are crunching behind the pole, getting closer by the second. Am I hearing things? Or is that Bailey, coughing in the air? Please be Bailey and Joe. Please god, please.
"Alright, where we goin now?" Bailey has arrived, and in less than fifteen minutes.
