After my talk with Canary, I decided to get some fresh air. Leaving my shoes in my bedroom, I made my way to the Cave's entrance, but once I got there, I found Red Tornado and Batman staring outside. I looked at them in confusion yet decided not to ask about what had happened. Mainly because Batman had a look of annoyance on his face and I really did not want to make him any more annoyed with whatever situation they were dealing with.
Red Tornado heard me approaching and turned to face me.
"(h/n)," he greeted. "How was your session with Black Canary?"
"It went well, Red Tornado. Thank you for asking." He nodded. "Batman, would you mind if I went out for a little? I just plan on going down to the beach to get some air."
"Go ahead, (h/n)," he replied with a small sigh. "Just radio to alert Red Tornado when you're on your way back."
I nodded before my wings grew out of my back, allowing me to fly away from the Cave. Within a few moments, I reached the beach. I wiggled my toes a little, letting the sand run through them. I retracted my wings and started down towards the water. Rolling up my pants, I stepped into the water, letting it flow up and around my ankles. I closed my eyes, simply enjoying the fact that I was outside. Soon, I was engulfed by the simple feeling of the wind blowing through my hair and the feeling of wet sand and ocean water on my feet.
"(y/n)?"
I opened my eyes and turned around to find myself looking at Kaldur. He was standing only a few feet behind me, a gentle smile on his face.
"Sorry, Kaldur," I said. "I didn't hear you coming."
"It is alright. I can tell you were enjoying yourself." I nodded. "How are you feeling?"
"Better now. My talk with Canary helped a lot. How about you?"
"I'm doing well. Canary helped me to see things that I might not have realized before."
I looked at him as he stepped up to my side.
"May I ask what?"
"I have found that over the last few weeks, there is someone whom I have grown fond of."
"Really?"
I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. Ever since joining the team, I had had feelings for the Atlantean leader. He was just so kind and was always willing to help someone out. Not to mention he was pretty attractive. I knew he could not have been talking about M'gann since she was dating Conner, so I guessed he was talking about Artemis.
"Indeed. And... after our simulation, and that person passed, I realized just how much they affected me. I felt lost without them, unsure of where to turn."
"So, do you plan on telling this person?" I asked, trying not to be awkward.
"I believe I just did."
My eyes widened as I looked at Kaldur only to find him smiling at me.
"Are you serious?" I questioned, hoping that he really was.
Kaldur nodded, gently slipping his webbed hand into mine.
"I am. You have stood by me since we first met, even though you barely knew me, and even after that, you supported me in my decisions. Those things, and many others, are what have caused me to fall for you."
I grinned at him. Standing on my toes, I placed a small kiss on his cheek. When I pulled back, Kaldur was smiling.
"I like you too, Kaldur," I told him. "Probably since I first joined the team."
His smile widened a little more before he gently kissed me. I hummed in response and kissed back, smiling as I did.
