I groaned as I slowly opened my eyes. The first thing that met my vision was a familiar man.

"Count Vertigo," I muttered.

I had been assigned to deliver a heart to a young girl across the country who was in dire need of a heart transplant. When I arrived in Seattle, I thought I was too late and one of Vertigo's goons tried to take the heart. I managed to get it back and deliver it to the doctors before passing out.

"That's King Vertigo to you, peasant."

"King?" I asked.

"Perdita is dead," he said with a smile. "And the beauty of it is, I never laid a hand on her."

"And now no one can lay a hand on you," I growled.

"As King of Vlatava, I'm untouchable."

"Let's test that theory!" I tried to sit up, but found it too painful to do so.

"Now, now, little hero. You'll pull your stitches. Besides, who exactly are you mad at? She died on the table. All that planning, all that effort, neither of us needed bothered."

"Right. And now it must kill you to know that you owe favors to Vandal Savage and I'm guessing five ice villains, for nothing!"

"Not at all! They played their roles in my attempt to rid Vlatava of Perdita. We couldn't know it was unnecessary."

"So you all still deserve credit for attempted murder!"

"It's called 'regicide," Vertigo said.

"It's called 'you're busted', jerkface!" I pulled back a curtain to reveal a blond girl seated in a hospital bed with two guards by her. "I believe you know Queen Perdita."

"No," the Count muttered.

"It's called 'regicide,'" the recording Perdita had said before she paused it.

"Count Werner Vertigo," Perdita said. "As Queen of Vlatava, I hereby accuse you of high treason against the Crown and revoke your diplomatic immunity."

"No!" Vertigo said, pulling out a sword.

He tried to rush forward but I swung a metal pole at him, knocking the sword out of his hand. The two guards moved forward, grabbing him by the arms.

"Send this clown to Belle Reve," I said.

"Well-played, children," Vertigo said. "Admittedly, well-played. This round goes to you." The guards began escorting him out of the room. "And, please, by all means, allow the victory to go to your heads."

Once he was gone, I picked up his sword and walked over to the young Queen.

"Thank you," she said. "Your plan worked perfectly."

I smiled.

"Well, when I woke up and found out you were in Recovery, I knew Vertigo would make another attempt on your life," I said to her. "Unless, A, he thought you were dead, and, 2, he lost that darned immunity. And was sent away for good."

I offered her the Count's sword, but she shook her head.

"That sword is belonging to my country, not to the Count," she said. "I would be pleased for you to have it. As a reward? Or as a souvenir?"

I smiled at her. A sudden gasp was heard from the doorway. I turned around to see who had entered the room. When I recognized the figure, I looked at them in confusion.

"(y/n)?" I said.

"Oh my gosh," she muttered, her (e/c) eyes filled with tears. "Perdita." She ran into the room and to the Queen's side. (y/n) wrapped her arms around the girl, who smiled and hugged her back. "I thought you were dead," (y/n) said, her voice choked from her tears.

"I'm alright, (y/n)," Perdita told her. The girl looked at me. "Thanks to Kid Flash."

(y/n) looked at me and smiled.

"Thank you, Wally," she said.

"You're welcome, (y/n)," I replied, even though I was still totally confused as to what was going on.

A doctor came into the room and asked (y/n) and I to leave so he could check on Perdita. As we waited outside the room, I turned to my friend.

"So, uh, how do you know Perdita?" I asked.

(y/n) smiled.

"She's my little sister."

"Sister?" She nodded. "She can't be your sister. I mean, that would make you royalty and make you Count Vertigo's niece." (y/n) simply crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow at me. My eyes widened. "Wait, what?!"

"Perdita is my sister, Vertigo is my uncle, and I am the princess of Vlatava."

"Wait, how is that even possible? If you're her older sister, shouldn't you be queen?"

"After I discovered my powers, I wanted to help people, and after the League found out about me, I joined the team. Perdita convinced me, knowing it was what I wanted to do. She became queen while I became a hero."

"So that's why you left the Cave yesterday. Because your sister's life was in danger."

She nodded.

"Listen, Wally. I'd prefer if the team didn't know about this."

"You really want to keep something like this from them? From Kaldur?"

"I don't want anything to change. I don't want anyone, especially Kaldur, treating me like-"

"Royalty?"

"Exactly. Please. Can you do this for me?"

I looked at her for several moments before sighing and nodding, agreeing to keep her secret.
