Chapter seven: Annie vs Asura and Eren

-Scout carriage, somewhere near Stohess district near Wall Sina.-

Eren woke up with a gasp, his mind fuzzy since he transformed into a titan for the first time. He remembered what Asura said to him while training him. "The first time you transform is always the most...taxing." Eren definitely felt the exhaustion, the difference between him and his brother was that Asura had his whole childhood to learn how to cope with his transformations. As his vision cleared, he saw Mikasa and Asura on either side of him. "Well, well. Look who's back in the land of the living." Asura said, "You had me worried, Yeager. I was starting to think you'd never wake up." "Asura, you and Mikasa saved me again, huh?" He asked bitterly, Asura shook his head. "Nah, but you almost got captured by the Female titan. You're lucky we got to you when we did...I'm sorry, Eren. Mina didn't make it." Asura said solemnly, Eren's eyes widened at the news. "Her body's to your left. You can...say goodbye, if you want." Asura then turned to Mikasa, the ornate girl nodded and the two got back onto there horses. Asura galloped beside Erwin. "How are we looking, Commander?" He asked, Erwin sighed. "We lost a lot of good men, today. Including Levi Squad. Unfortunately Asura, this Expedition is a failure." He said, "Understood, when you, Levi and Vice Commander Hanji have time, meet with me. And bring Armin, Mikasa, Jean and Eren with you. I know the identity of the Female titan, she's a Titan Shifter." Asura requested, Erwin nodded then saw Asura tense up. "Titans, two of them. A 15 meter Abnormal accompanied by a Crawler of the same height." He said, Erwin put his hand on the trigger/sword grip on his right. "Where?" He asked, Asura turned his head to try and find them by sound. His eyes widened. "Behind us! They're chasing two Scouts. No just one, the other one was just devoured. I can tell by the scent of fresh blood. We need to move, now!" He shouted, Erwin gave the order to move, the remaining Scouts did so. And not a moment to soon, as the two aforementioned titans were right behind them. Asura was riding on the other side of the carriage Eren was in. Levi came up beside him. "Why don't you transform, kid?" He asked, "You think that's something we can just do anytime!?" Asura asked irritated, "Eren and I need time to recover from our recent transformations! So get off my ass!" He then glared daggers at Levi. "And if you call me a child, or a kid again, you're in for a world of pain, jackass!" A scream from behind the convoy was heard. Asura turned around and saw that the Scout that had found the titans had been grabbed. "Damn it!" He cursed, jumping off Mirrah and hooking the 15 meter Abnormal in the eye. He dashed to it's right and cut it's nape, but stumbled and fell into a heap when he landed. "Damn. That fight took more out of me than I thought." He groaned, Asura then heard the Crawler coming after him. "Mirrah!" Asura called, the war horse answered her rider's call and galloped to him, Asura grabbed onto her reigns and pulled himself onto the saddle. He then grabbed the Scout he saved by the back of his shirt and pulled him to the passenger seat on his saddle. "T-thanks!" The scout said a bit shaken, "What the hell were you thinking!?" Asura yelled, his normally cool demeanor had burned out, making him a bit hotheaded. After getting back to the convoy, Asura heard more heavy footsteps. "Ah, crap. We've got a mob headed our way!" True to form, a large group of Abnormals had arrived. "Why are they chasing after us!?" Connie asked, Asura then smelled something...the scent of dead humans. "They want the corpses." He whispered, "Listen up! We have to ditch the bodies! The Abnormals smell the rotting flesh, that's why they're after us!" Everyone looked him like he was crazy. "Are you insane!?" Jean yelled, "Sometimes, the dead don't get to come home...this will be their last act saving humanity. Now do it." Asura said grimly, after some hesitation, the remaining Scouts unloaded the bodies of their comrades. And Asura and Eren threw out Mina's body. (Sorry, Mina.) Asura thought, as expected, the titans went after the dead humans and began eating them. Asura closed his eyes and let out a silent prayer. A few minutes later, the convoy stopped and began setting up a temporary outpost. Asura saw the Scout he saved and tapped his shoulder. "Here." He said, handing the Scout a torn symbol. It belonged to his friend. "This was...all I could recover. I'm sorry I couldn't save him." The Scout held the symbol and shed tears. "Thank you." He choked out, Asura nodded and put a hand on his shoulder, then left the Scout alone to grieve. Erwin was talking to Hanji when they both saw Asura approaching. "How many did we lose?" Asura asked, "No casualties thanks to you. You caught that group coming on our left in time. Their calling you a hero, you know." Hanji replied, "I'm no hero. Let's be honest, I'm a monster that kills other monsters. And last I checked, heroes don't kill people." Asura said bitterly, "Nevertheless, you saved a lot of lives. That I can't ignore." Erwin said, "Well done, Vice Captain." Asura's head shot up at Erwin. "Wait! What!?" He exclaimed confused and shocked, "Vice Captain!? Can he-wh-I-I'm speechless. I didn't think I did all that much." Hanji chuckled, it wasn't very often that Erwin gave someone a rank for saving lives. "I'd say you earned it, Asura." She said, "Just doing my job." Asura said simply, Erwin had a short laugh. "I wish more people had your definition of 'just doing your job.'" He said, Asura then saluted and went back to Eren, Armin, and Mikasa. Eren had been resting for awhile, when Asura entered, Mikasa was the first person to notice him. "Hey." She said, "Hey, how's the bonehead doing?" Asura asked, Armin answered this time. "He's sleeping, why?" He asked, "Just worried about my brother. So um...apparently I'm Vice Captain now." Asura said, Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Connie and Sasha were surprised by the news. "When did it happen?" Connie asked, "Just now, actually. Got it by saving lives, but I'll be honest, knowing that what remains of our convoy's alive is reward enough. So, just because I'm Vice Captain now, doesn't mean you lot have to treat me like a superior officer now. And yes, that's an order." Asura stated, Hanji opened the tent. "We're moving out, pack what you can." She said, "Yes ma'am." Asura replied, as he and the others started packing what they could, and left what they couldn't
