A/N: So I don't really have much to say this time apart from informing everyone reading that the chapters might be a bit short for the next three chapters or so, really sorry but there isn't really much action until chapter 6 or 7. these chapters are really important too though, just not as exciting. Now to the story:

Elias & I walked to my house together (a few streets away from school) while we made fun of 10 boy and the girls' fan club. We reached the house just as Elias was mimicking Sienna (a girl in our English class) fainting after she heard 10 boy's voice for the first time. I laughed as I pulled my keys out of my pocket and unlocked the door.

"Mom, I'm home!" I called. Usually, I would spell it with a 'u' but she has a half American accent, so this is just how she pronounces it.

"Hi, Quinn's 'Mom'!" Elias called, mimicking my accent. My mom laughed and walked into the room from the kitchen, clutching a kitchen towel that she must have been using to wipe her hands.

"Well, hello you two!" She chirped happily. "I was just cooking dinner. Fried rice, Quinn's favourite."

"Someone's birthday?" I joked.

"Oh, just a successful day at work," She informed us. "Is there a reason  Elias is with you today?" She asked.

"Oh we're-" Elias began.

"Researching a project for school." I cut in. I gave him a look like, 'I'll tell you later' and he moved his eyes to the ceiling, then looked around on the floor. Our secret communication. He basically just nodded or said yes. To shake his head or say no he would scan the room slowly left to right then look at me. Thre are a bunch of Little communication movements we have, you'll learn them all in good time. If I wanted him to repeat the action I would exaggerate raising my eyebrows.

"Well, off to work then you two!" My mom still sounded so happy about work. She works at WAHQ which stands for 'Writing Agent Head Quarters' which doesn't make sense to me, the only thing she does is edit books. How can that be successful? I just shrugged it off.

"Okay, call us when dinner's ready," I requested, and then showed Elias to my bedroom. When the door was closed behind us, Elias looked at me expectantly.

"If she knows she's gonna want to see him, and I don't know if she's 'immune' to him or not. I don't want to lose my mom to him in the same week I lost my best friend." He nodded in understanding.

"Let's get researching." He encouraged me. I turned on my Laptop, typed in my password (which I typed too fast for Elias to memorize) and typed into the google search engine:

Anthony Ranson.
