Quinn's POV
"Orphans?!" I ask, shocked. She nodded her head, looking down.
"They had a choice, most of them chose to join us."
"What, but then where is Eli going right now?"
"Back to the orphanage."
"They know where he's going and they still let him go?"
"No, he says he's going to school," she informed me, starting the car up and reversing out of the parking lot. I guess that didn't really change anything though, but it's shocking that they're orphans. All those small kids, from ages 3 and above, basically as soon as they can walk, are being trained to fight. No parents or home and they're already learning how to fight. I guess that's cute but I still feel sad about it.
A few hours later
I was in my room listening to music while reading, but I wasn't really reading. My eyes were out of focus and I was lost in my thoughts, my mind full of questions.
Does my mother know my dad is alive? How long has she known, if she even knows at all? Why wasn't she the one to tell me? Is my father after me? Will he try to kill me? Does Elias know? Why do I find everything out now? Is Eli okay knowing he's an orphan? Will this mess ever be sorted out? I hoped so.
My mum walked in, probably to check on me since I was being so quiet.
"You okay?" she asked me.
"Yeah, just thinking," I replied.
"About?"
"You know, stuff," I said. "Actually, can I ask you something?" she nodded.
"Go ahead."
"Do you know dad's alive?" I blurted out. This question seemed to take her by surprise, and she seemed slightly angered and uncomfortable, though she still looked at me with a soft gaze. She finally nodded. My eyes widened, I wasn't expecting her to answer 'yes'. Should I be mad about it? Was I mad about it? Sort of, I guess, but confusion won over so I asked her another question. "How long have you known?" She was hesitant about answering again.
"...Always, I guess," she answered honestly again.
"Why did you tell me he was dead?"
"I didn't want you to look for him or think he was there for you ever, he is a foul, disgusting person who left you in my care because he couldn't take the facts: he had a daughter now and he had to take care of her. But he left her... he left you." My mum got teary-eyed and all of a sudden I didn't care that she had kept this from me or lied, I stood up and wrapped my arms tightly around her chest, preventing her from letting the tears fall down her cheeks. She smiled and leaned in to hug me properly, her arms resting on my shoulders and one of her hands stroking my hair.
"I love you," I whispered to her.
"I love you too," she whispered back.
A few weeks later...
I was freaking out about BTS's Burn The Stage, and of course, the first person I spoke to about it was Elias. He wasn't really listening, which was weird. He would usually look at me and at least pretend he was listening, but right now it was our lunch break in WAHQ and he was acting unusually.
"Are you okay?" I asked, concerned. He turned his neck to look at me somewhat robotically, scaring me a little.
"Yea," he said, but his tone wasn't the tone he would usually use for replying to things; it sounded more careless and dead.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked again.
"I'm fine," he replied, but it sounded as if he was trying to fake a happy tone. Was he mad at me? Did I do something?
"Elias, what's wrong?" I asked, worried now.
"I said it's nothing, I'm fine!" He half shouted, taking me by surprise. Then he stood up with his lunch and headed toward the practise room for the seniors, where his bag was kept.
I didn't ask him about it again next time we met. Three weeks later, he was acting less odd, so I didn't think about it as much, though I was still scared. What scared me even more, though, was that a week before this happened, he kept sneaking out of the house at night. How did I know? He told me. He said someone wanted to meet him and he kept going back. In fact, the day before he turned all odd on me, he had told me he found something important out and was going to tell me in the morning when he saw me. He had seemed excited but nervous at the same time. All he told me before he left was 'don't trust anyone', but obviously I can trust some people, like him and my mum.
Well... Apparently, not him anymore...
Hey, thank you for reading! Sorry, it got sort of boring but I promise next chapter will be exciting and active! I'll also be publishing a second book which I had an idea for a while ago (not the book I thought I was gonna publish in the previous chapter, an older book idea) but I won't publish it until I have a good amount of chapters ready, also the chapters might be sort of short and the POV never changes.
Go check out XxSilverMarexX coz her writing is goals~ and her books are awesome~ Saranghae, Unnie! I'm in love with her BTS Fanfictions: || BTS Eighth Member || & Angel! <3 (also I figured out how to 'mention a user' now (with some help))
