"As soon as I get home, I've got to dye my hair. I still can't believe they made me get it blonde," I said, propping my phone between my ear and shoulder as I grabbed my suitcase from the conveyor belt.

My best friend, Riley Renegade, merely laughed at my pain. I called her to tell her I was off the plane and on my way home. "No, not yet, I wanna see it."

"Oh hell no," I stated, laughing a bit as I walked towards the exit. Lucas May, my other best friend, was supposed to be waiting outside somewhere to pick me up since my brother, Nathan, couldn't make it. He's working late as usual. All he ever does is fix cars at Uncle Marty's auto repair shop. To think he tossed all his scholarships out the door just to swim in grease all day.

"Whatever, Luke still has the screenshots of it from our video calls." I could hear the sly grin in her voice as she spoke.

"Damn you two," I laughed, shaking my head before I spotted Lucas' white truck. "I'll talk to you later man, I see Luke."

"Mkay, see ya at school," she said and with that, we both hung up. I bit my lip, a habit I had since I was young. I smirked as I gently set my things up and sunk around the truck. Luke was standing near the tail gate, looking down on his phone.

"Boo!" I shouted and jumped on his back once I had gotten close enough.

"What the- Max I swear I'm gonna kill you one day." My friend chuckled as he held me up on his back.

"Sure Lukey-Pookey." I grinned as I ruffled his chestnut brown hair before hopping down.

"Don't call me that," he whined and fixed his hair.

"Whatcha gonna do about it?" I smirked.

"I dunno, Maxine." I glared at his words.

"I'm not afraid to hurt you, stupid." Lucas only laughed as I rolled my eyes. He walked around to the driver's side and got in as I opened the door to the passenger and did the same.

The drive home was filled with laughter and jokes and questions about what had been going on over the past few years. I missed my friends, but I didn't miss Shitville, . Minus the reform school part, London was so much better.

"Welcome home," Lucas said as he stopped in front of the two-story house I grew up in. Bittersweet memories flooded my mind and I couldn't help but smile as I got out.

"Thanks, Luke, I'll see you on Monday," I said and waved as I got out. I had only been on the ground and walking for a minute or so before the front door burst open and my two favorite things from that house came running. My great dane, Angus, and my big brother.

The huge black and white dog got to me first and tackled me to the ground, happily spreading his slobber all over my face. "Hi, baby! Awe I miss you too!" I chuckled and pushed him off so I could sit up and wipe my face clean.

I couldn't help but smile and laugh as he looked at me with that cute puppy grin he always had despite his growing age.

"Maxi!" Nathan shouted and I looked over only for him to pull me up off my feet and hug me like he did before I left. I smiled and laughed as I hugged him back.

"You're squishing meeee," I whined and Nathan gave me one last squeeze before letting me back down.

"I missed you so much. Did they fuck you up? Please tell me you're not all prissy and 'reformed to society' now."

"Well, what's wrong with that? Don't you understand that the priority of a woman's life is to provide? I must look and act suitable if I wish to be wed one day," I explained, pulling off my best English accent that I had picked up from living around a bunch of English folk for two years.
