It wasn't long before Riley pulled into the Walmart parking lot and we filed out of the car. Darkness was settling over the sky as the sun set, leaving fewer people around. We walked in and Nate headed straight for the pregnancy prevention. Fuckboy. The rest of us stayed behind.
"We should totally cart race," I suggested.
"Last time we did that we got kicked out," Luke pointed out, always the voice of reason.
"Cart race?" Cole asked soon after Lucas spoke.
"Yeah, me and Riley get in the carts then you and Lucas race. Fun as hell."
"I did that when I was seven," he laughed and I rolled my eyes.
"And we're childish. So are you pushing me or not?" I asked as Luke and Riley grabbed the carts.
"Why not?" he chuckled and I grinned. Riley and I got in separate carts, our backs facing the drivers before we turned to each other, smirking.
"First to the art supplies wins," I said before beginning the countdown. "Three."
"Two," Cole continued.
"One," Lucas finished.
"Go!" Riley exclaimed and the boys took off. "We're gonna beat your ass!"
"In your dreams!" I shouted back and Cole laughed, pushing forward before making a sharp turn, nearly throwing me out of the cart. "You already burnt me don't throw me too!"
"I won't kitten," he chuckled. "Just hold on and you'll be fine."
Riley and I had both been giggling with too much excitement to care if we got kicked out. This was much too fun.
The race went on, the boys running faster as Riley and I laughed louder. This is what I missed. I missed letting go. I missed having fun. I missed my friends. And I finally had them back.
Cole and I ended up winning and I wasn't surprised. Luke was fast but Cole was faster. Riley and I hoped out, ditching the carts. "No fair," Riley pouted and crossed her arms all childlike.
Lucas laughed and patted her head. "Maybe next time Riles."
"Awwe," I cooed, smirking as she glared, her cheeks bright red. "How cute." Would you look at that, Luke's were too.
"Shut up Maxi," Riley demanded, looking away to hide her blush.
"Riles is all blushy-" Riley cut me off by covering my mouth.
"Uh huh, imagine your little boyfriend over here naked. Now, who's blushing?" In my defense, it was only imagined by accident. I may or may not have gotten redder than the sun.
I swatted her hand away with a glare as Luke snickered. "Not my boyfriend, dickface." To my surprise Cole wasn't laughing, his cheeks were as bright as mine. Someone kill me.
Thankfully Nate's interruption saved me from further embarrassment. "Hey, I found a hot chick over by the condoms so I'm gonna go get laid I'll see you in the morning," he said in a rush before ruffling my hair. "Don't get in trouble."
"Don't get an STD."
"Hope not," he grinned before telling the others bye and racing off to some blonde with obviously fake tits. My brother had no class.
"I'm gonna laugh when he gets herpes," Cole said, his arms crossed over his chest.
"Same though," I chuckled and looked over, seeing Luke helping Riley pick between a few different paint things.
I looked around and picked up a sketchbook with a very odd, ugly face on the cover. I snickered and showed Cole. "It's you."
He laughed and rolled his eyes. "You're so immature."
