"Love, wake up," Cole's muffled voice whispered in my ear as I was pulled away from my dreams.
"What?" I yawned, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
"I wanna show you something." His bright eyes glistened in the dull lamplight as he smiled down at me. I found my tired self nodding a bit as a smile of my own tugged at the corners of my lips.
He grinned as he stood before taking my hand, pulling me up as if he were lifting a feather. He kept his fingers interlaced with my own as he grabbed a blanket. "Where are we going?" I asked as he led me outside.
"You'll see," he said with that cute lopsided grin of his.
Cole and I walked through the woods with our hands clasped together in comfortable silence. Despite the dark wilderness around me, I felt safe, protected. I always did with him.
Before long we reached a small clearing with soft grass and white wildflowers spread about over a little hill. Cast in the moonlight, the scene was rather beautiful.
Cole grinned as we walked up the small mound in the center of the opening where he laid the blanket down. "Does this count as our first date?" I chuckled as we sat down.
"I consider all the time I spend with you a date," he grinned.
"Cute," I smiled and he rolled his eyes. We laid on our backs, one of his arms behind my head and around my shoulders as he used his other for a headrest, staring up at the clear sky. "Ever wonder how many there are?" I asked.
"How many what?"
"Stars."
"To be completely honest I've never been one to care. It's pointless to count when there's a bunch that die and a bunch that are born all the time."
"Good point," I agreed, nodding my head. "I've always liked space shit though. It's all a big mystery."
"Kinda like you," he grinned.
I couldn't help but laugh a little. "Sorta. You too though."
"I guess," he shrugged. "Isn't that the dipper thing?"
I chuckled lightly. "That one right there is the big dipper," I said, pointing it out to him. "And over there is Virgo, my zodiac. Scorpio is over there, that's yours."
"Ohhh, that's kinda cool," he grinned and I nodded.
"Mhm," I said with a small smile. A cool gust of wind slid up my spine and I couldn't help but shiver, curling up as Cole pulled me closer to him.
"Cold, love?" He asked.
"A bit, I'm okay though." Without another word he sat up and pulled his leather jacket off. He still didn't have a shirt due to the wound on my side.
Yup, you guessed it. My face is about as bright as each of the stars gleaming in the sky above me.
He wrapped the warm jacket around my shoulders. "Won't you need this? You don't exactly have a shirt."
"I don't mind the cold," he said with a sweet smile.
I couldn't help my light blush. "Still."
"No still," he said and wrapped an arm around me, pulling me close to him as he placed a gentle kiss on the top of my head.
I couldn't help the small smile tugging at the corners of my lips as I looked up at him. "Hey, Cole?"
"Yes, kitten?"
"Who keeps beating the shit out of you?"
"I told you, just people that pick fights," he said, tensing up.
