You know what sucks? What really fucking sucks? When you're about to go beat the hell out of some cunt then Cole Fucking Stone grabs you and throws you over his shoulder like a god damn sack of potatoes. Fucking asshole.

"Can you stop squirming? Kinda hard to carry you that way."

"Then put me down dickhead!" I whined, hitting his back repetitively. "Just let me beat someone's ass goddamnit!"

"Not gonna happen kitten," he said and I groaned as I gave up, no longer bothering to struggle. Cole carried me back inside and tossed me on the couch. My phone rang just after I flipped him off and the second I saw Riley's contact I answered.

"Hey, wha-"

"Max!" She shouted and from there I had no clue what she was saying. She was talking so fast and stumbling over her gibberish words so much it sounded like another language.

"Riles. Calm. Get over here, and then explain."

"Gimme two seconds, I'ma break the sound barrier," she said and hung up.

I couldn't help but laugh, tossing my phone aside. "What's going on?" Cole asked, laughing lightly as he sat beside me.

"Riles is freaking out over something."

"What do you think it is?"

"No clue," I answered and he chuckled. Barely any time at all passed before Riley showed up and ran through the door.

"Maxi!"

"Riles!"

"Important! Very Important! Need to go! Now!"

"Where are we going?" I asked trying not to laugh as she grabbed my arm and pulled me to her jeep. I barely had enough time to grab my phone and wave a goodbye to Cole before we were speeding down the road. "So what's so important?"

"I found dad," she said, sounding calmer but still beyond surprised.

"No way!" I exclaimed, my lips growing into a grin.

"Yes way," she chuckled, her smile wide as she glanced over at me.

"How you find out?"

"I was arguing with mom over it and I got her to snap. When I asked where he was she screamed that he was in jail. I couldn't get much else out of her but she tried getting me not to go," she said before her smile fell.

"I wonder what he did. Do you think it was something bad? Or maybe something stupid like a bad check. Hell, maybe he beat the fuck out of someone. Do you think he'll like me? What if he doesn't know I'm even alive? Is he even still alive? What if-"

"Riles. Breathe," I chuckled. "It'll be okay, and even if it's not then I'll be there, I promise." Her smile came back once I finished talking.

"Thanks, Maxi," she said as we pulled up to the prison. It was a large cement building with only one entrance for guests or new criminals getting locked up. We parked and walked in. When Riley asked to see Herman Dolling I gave her an odd look.

"Your dad's name is Herman?"

"That's what mom said," she chuckled and I couldn't help but laugh a bit. They wouldn't let two people see him at once so I was stuck in the waiting room. Not long after I sat down, I got a text from Cole.

Cole
