I bit my lip, unable to concentrate on what whatever the teacher was saying. I was too busy thinking and twirling my pencil around my fingers.
Cole and I had argued over me not opening up. I kicked him out then had a breakdown after what happened with dad. I was so close to doing such horrible things...
Then Cole texted and came over. Even after I kicked him out and yelled at him for trying to care, he wanted to help. He cared. What is wrong with that boy?
My eyes widened when I realized I hadn't told Riley yet. How in the hell had I forgotten? I immediately sent her a text.

MEET ME IN THE GIRLS BATHROOM BY THE CAFETERIARiles
GOTCHAI love this girl. I grabbed my things and asked to use the restroom. I grinned as I walked out, I planned on ditching the rest of class to talk to my best friend.
We met up in the bathroom sat on the double sink. "So whats so important we couldn't text about?"
"A lot of shit happened yesterday and I wanted to tell you in person," I said before explaining everything from me and Cole's argument to dad to passing out on Cole's shoulder.
"Was he still there in the morning?" She asked and I shook my head.
"No, but I found him sleeping on the couch. Not sure if he came to school though, I didn't wake him up." I left out how cute and peaceful he looked while sleeping.
"Awe, how cute," she teased and I blushed, rolling my eyes. "But you should have called me."
"I know I just," I sighed, running my hand through my hair. "I wouldn't even let Nate in my room I don't know what compelled me to let Cole through my window. I was mad at him too."
"Okay don't take this the wrong way but hear me out." She said and I raised a brow. "You were mad at Nate cause he didn't stand up for you right?"
"Yeah," I nodded.
"And you kicked Cole out cause he was trying to get you to open up. But once he left you said you were upset." I nodded, not sure what she was getting at. "Maybe you like hi-"
"No! I don't! I don't do that shit remember?"
"I know Max but think about it. You act like me around Luke when you're with him." I only shook my head. She couldn't be right. There was no way. "And if you haven't noticed already, he likes you."
"Bullshit."
"Not at all. He's never acted the way he does with you with another girl, not even those he's dated."
"He was dating them. Cole and I are just friends."
"You're in denial." Riley rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"Anyway," I started, hoping to get off the subject of my love life, "Anything interesting going on?"
"Not much, but I've been digging for shit on my dad." Riley lived with only her mother and her annoying little brother. Her father was a mystery to her. Her mom refused to talk about him and Riley only had a faint memory of his voice and an idea of what he looked like.
