{CHAPTER 23}
[Hungry]
Song suggestion| Wo raatein ab kahan gayi (Desi Boyz)

Myra's POV:

I haven't slept in the past three days. I'm sleepy.

I haven't eaten in the past 3 days.
I'm hungry.

I haven't said a word in the past 3 days.
I yearn to say "I love you" to him.

I don't know what I said or did because of which he threw me out like someone throws out their trash.

I remember him not looking away from my eyes, smashing the door in my face. The look of confusion etched onto my face.

One second I lay in his warm bed. The next, I'm sprawled across the cold marble floor of his building.

I didn't attend any classes since then. But today, I'm going. I need answers. Why is he so harsh towards me?

With the beautiful memories of that day flashing through my head, I throw my backpack around my neck and rush out the door.

Mrs. Jolly, the woman who gave me the warmest smile each day, now wore a disheartened look on her face each time she saw me. Which is very little in the past couple of days.

Everyone was on break when I got there. I found the girls and joined them on the seating opposite the basketball courts where the boys played.

As I sat down, I searched for Kishan and saw him dribbling the ball towards the hoop. As he scored a three pointer, the boys cheered for him, but there was no sign of victory on his face.

As the girls finally diverted their attention from the match to me, each one got up and gave me a hug. Their hugs were like reassurance that whatever happened or will happen, they'll always be here by my side.

Celebrating their victory, the boys ran to their beloved girlfriends. There even seemed to be something between Nia and Abhi.

I looked at Kishan, hope in my heart, that he to will envelop me in his hug. That moment never came.

He turned around and left, without saying a word to me.

Feeling a small hand on my shoulder, I turned around to hug Nia whilst Abhi gave me a reassuring look and Abhi followed Kishan into the boys' locker room.

Once again, I was in my room alone.

Once again, I had decided to not to eat.

I closed my eyes.

The same memories haunted me.

Flashback:
"I love you mumma"

"Love you too sweetie" she whispered as she kissed me goodnight.

That little girl had slept comfortably knowing her mumma would be there for her the next morning, but little had she known, morning will never dawn, the sun would never rise and she would be stuck in a never ending winter.

The door of the car opened revealing a beautiful mansion in front of the little girl. She was now in a foreign land, a foreign house among foreign people.

She did not belong.

"Miss, this is your bedroom. You're not permitted to leave this bedroom at any point. Your tutor will be here any minute now" the governess said before turned around, and closing the French doors behind her.

I looked around the room.

It wasn't as luxurious as the beauty outside the French doors of the bedroom but it was fine.

There was no pink canopy, no fluffy teddy bears, no mumma.

What I had was 4 walls, painted a depressing shade of grey, a king single bed pressed to the side with blue sheets, a dresser and a study table adjacent to the bed.

8 years later:

"Where are your manners Myra?"

"Sorry" I said bowing my head and walking to my seat at the long dining table.

"I assume you have completed your allocated work for piano, tutor, vocal training, gardening, cooking, and the 5 page essay I told you to write on why it is not good behaviour to engage in conversation with other people who are not of your low status."

I simply nodded looking at my empty plate and silverware. I was starving.

"There are a few guests coming today and I would like you not to show your face to them as long as they stay here."

I once again nodded. The governess came over and whispered in the lady's ear who was sitting in the chair where the head of the family is meant to.

She nodded and turned her face to long at me. Just before a scoop of soup was poured into my bowl, the server was stopped,

"I have just been informed that you haven't completed your piano lessons? The teacher has been waiting for you but you dared not to show up?" she whiffed her nose in anger,

"You will not be served any food tonight. You should be a little more disciplined."

Nodding, I stood from my seat,

"Never leave the table. E.V.E.R. Understand?"

Sitting back down, I looked at the clock in front of me and watched the second tick by, as the lady ate, complimenting each dish.

That night, I slept hungry.

Just like this one.

Flashback ends.

I blinked my eyes to draw away the tears.

That's all for now. I wasn't planning to update any time soon but thanks to some encouraging comments I did.

Hope you like it.
