She's tied to the ceiling, slowly being lowered toward the lava. Her breathing is slow, but shallow at the same time. Her head is swimming with unsaid thoughts and memories that haven't happened yet. But she doesn't care.

"Why me?" She just wanted to fit in, or at least appear normal. Instead, kids made fun of her and she spent lunch periods alone under the stairs.

It wasn't that she was bullied, persay. In fact, it was a bit of the opposite. She heard things differently. Little whispers telling her anyone who helped her would die. So no friends. Just enemies. It got a bit lonely at times, but then they talked to her. They told her all the right things. They made it better. But now they're gone.

She can dimly remember what comes next. Kai runs in and saves her. Or at least that's what's supposed to happen. Instead, nothing happens. There's just darkness, with small fractals of light bouncing off the walls. She understands. After all of her rushing and heartache, she didn't stop. She could've. She probably should've. But she didn't

But didn't Kai care?

Across the Bounty, Skylor wakes up. As she sits up, she realizes there's blood on her pillows. Touching her head, she realizes it's her own.

"That was quite a blow," Kai says from her right. His whole aura has changed. He seems more like a fire lit on wet wood, trying to decide whether it should actually try to spark or just die out.

Skylor stares up into those intense brown eyes. She's already made up her mind to stay with him, even if it's dangerous. But now she finds herself questioning her decision. What if the thing inside her best friend, the thing that injured her, is inside Kai too? It isn't the risk, it's the fear that makes her feel nervous looking up at him from the bed.

Lloyd watches the water pass below them through his portside window. The Bounty was in pretty bad condition when they boarded it. Jay and Nya were going to try and fix it, but they never did. Everything just seemed so unimportant then. Master Wu had warned them not to get too caught up with everyday life, but they had ignored him, as always.

Lloyd never really noticed how his Uncle always seemed to tell them something important at exactly the right time. He sighs as he thinks of how Wu is probably at his new tea shop, relaxing.

He's jerked out of his thoughts as he feels a hand gently touch his shoulder. A cold hand. Morro.

Ever since he had somehow come back from the dead a few days after the day of the departed, Morro has felt cold in his new skin to Lloyd. Almost like he's dead. But they don't care. It's just another memory to pretend to forget about.

So Lloyd turns to his significant other and fakes a smiles. Morro gladly returns a real one, and they both hang onto each other like it's the end. A hug is just a way to hide your face. (Doctor Who quote)

Zane watches as dark clouds begin to brew behind his closed bedroom window.

"What if it isn't them who are wrong, but us?"

"True, but that still hurt."

And in the closed bedroom, as rain begins to pelt the ship and the waves grow restless, the girl opens her eyes a final time before the real fight begins.
