I'm Not A Myth, I'm A Legend (Ray Palmer fanfic)

So that's my fault ?

Hawkgirl's condition was stabilized, but we can't risk to time jump or she'll get worse. Basically, we're all stuck in 1975. I head to my room before crossing any team member's path, and sat on my bed to take a breath, all  of things that are happening are overwhelming : She is our only chance to save the world and kill Savage, and for now it feels like she's about to join her love.

I feel like despair and sadness is taking over my soul, looking at how broken Kendra was made me remember all of the things that broke me. I remembered how I went home after school when I was 8, to find the police taking my parents' dead bodies out of the house. I remembered when Derek and I had to save ourselves from the fire that killed my adoptive family, our family. I felt like I relived all of these awful moments, in a second.

I feel tears roll down my cheeks and land on the back of my hands, and then I hear my room's door open.
It was Jax, and somehow I felt relieved. I really like that kid, he's nice.

"Ruby ? Are you crying ?" He asked, a concerned expression on his face.

I sighed heavily and wiped my tears away.

"Nah, just took a moment to wash my face with tears. I was too lazy to go to the bathroom." I responded sarcastically.

"Oh come on ! Tell me, what's wrong ?" He insisted.

"It's just that.. losing a member of the team made me remember how many people I lost."

"Family ?"

"Biological and adoptive."

He stared at me in shock.

"I didn't know, I'm sorry.. My father died when I was a baby, I never met him."

"I'm so sorry Jax..."

"It's okay, are you thinking about going home ?" 

I look up to a picture of Derek, Scott, Allison, Lydia and Stiles.

"No, because I want us all to save the world, so I can make sure that these people will have a future, that their future families will have the closest thing to a normal life !" I said pointing to the picture. "Because they are the only family I have left, now."

"Captain Hunter wants to see you all in the bridge." Gideon informed.

Jax and I looked at each other then went there to meet the rest of the team.

Rip started talking about the mission and basically wanted to know if we were still in, we all agreed that we have to stay because we have to end Savage.

Happy with our choice, he suggests we all strap so we can go to our next destination : Leipzig, Germany. But what we didn't know when we got there, was the fact that none of us is getting out of this ship except Rip and Sara, how cool ! In the mean time, Jax is fixing the ship,Chronos did some serious damage to it, Stein and Ray are trying to find a way to save Kendra, and Snart and Rory are certainly up to something, so I went back to my room, nobody needed my help anyway.

Wrong.

"Ruby ? This wasn't really my idea but Stein and I need your help with something."

Oh, really Ray.

I sighed and followed him to the MedBay, Stein was looking at the screen that showed Kendra's vitals, worried.

"So, what do you guys need help with ?" I asked

"The broken knife fragments are moving through Miss Saunders' circulatory system, and they're closing in towards her heart. The fragments are miniscule. Even the ship's technology isn't capable of neutralizing them. Raymond wants to shrink and go into her blood stream and vaporize them. I think it's too dangerous but there's no time for us to argue too much so we need someone to vote, you Miss Jones. What do you think we should do ?" Stein said.

To be honest, I don't even know why they chose me, I mean, I don't have any medical knowledge. 

"Ray has to do his thing, it's the only thing there's left to try anyway." I responded.

"Thanks Ruby." He said, very excited. He rushes to his atom suit to get ready.

He kind of reminds me of Stiles, well Stiles has a likable side he's like a little brother to me, even though he's weird sometimes. But, Ray... meh. I don't know, his obsession with wanting to be THE hero, I don't really like that.

Okay, first try :

Ray gets into Kendra's blood stream and starts destroying the little fragments.

"Her vitals are improving, keep going you have 19 more fragments to go Ray." I said, looking at the screen.

Dr. Stein looks to me

"Seems like Raymond is not moving at the moment." He said.

"Ray what are you doing ? Why did you stop ?" I said to Ray.

"Something's wrong with my suit, Stein please get me out of here !" He exclaims.

Oh, crap.

Stein gets the atom out and the first thing he does after going back to his normal size is bolting towards me. Very angry looking.

"This was your fault !" He yelled, pointing his finger at me. "You were talking and I pressed the wrong button !"

"Ray, what the hell ?  YOU that pushed the button, YOU DID THAT ! I was only informing you about her condition." I yelled back.

He glared at me and turned back to Stein.

"I'm not doing this again, I'm gonna fix my suit. Sorry Stein, you were right. We can't do this."

Then he just stormed out of the MedBay.

"What is going on with him ?" Stein asks me.

"How the hell would I know ? He just keeps on blaming me for everything."

"But he needs to go back, what he was doing was actually working. Miss Jones, I think that something is bothering him, and to know what it is, we have to think like him."

"Like a hyperactive spaz ?"

The room stayed silent for an awkwardly long time.

"Or maybe.." Stein says, trying to figure out something to say "You can go and convince him to try again."

"Sorry professor, but I want talk to someone who treats me that way. You will be the one to do that." I say, rushing out of the room.
