Anne POV.
Today, Phil and I were braving our circus family and telling them I was preganany. Mostly, I was just excited, however I was also very scared because I knew W.D would be fuming!
I swallow away the fear and get dressed, as Phillip tries to lighten my mood by telling me jokes. I try to smile for his delight, but he knows I'm faking it.
"Good morning, baby Elissa!" Phillip says, when we're downstairs and at the breakfast table.
"What would you like for breakfast today?" Phil asks my stomach.
"She totally needs a chocolate muffin." I say, and Phillip laughs and passes me a chocolate muffin.
We step outside in the early morning New York light half an hour later, both shaking with excitement (and not to forget a little fear). I knew everyone apart from W.D would be bouncing with joy; after all, who wouldn't want a mini girl version of Phillip? This thought relaxed me, if W.D got angry, I knew the rest of the circus had my back.
We arrive at our tent, and as soon as we step in, and infestation of people surround me, hugging me. I laugh with joy, and W.D hugs me and says, "God, I missed you a lot, Annie!" He says, and he looks so happy for a second I don't want to tell him about my baby. But I know he deserves to know, and so does everybody else, so I stay silent.
Slowly, everyone gives me space and surround me in a small semi circle, and smile at me. Lettie grins at me, already knowing about the baby.
"So we wanted to tell you something important." Phillip begins, and a quite hush settles over the group.
"Go on then, Carlyle. We're waiting for you." Barnum says, motioning at my husband with his hand.
"Okay," Phillip starts, "We wanted to tell you about the newest member of our family and yours." A confusion whispers over the group, as they try to piece this information together. It was the small girl Helen which realised the truth. She clapped her hands and squeled!
"You're having a baby!" She shouts and everybody erupts into cheers and gasps.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so happy!" exclaims Charity, and everybody agrees with smiles and they come in to hug us.
"We can't wait for the baby, guys. Boy or girl?!" Lettie asks.
"A beautiful baby girl, called Elissa." I say, and everybody claps.
Until W.D elbows his way towards me.
"A baby girl? Called Elissa?" He says. But the overwhelming support that the rest of the crew has showed has given me the strength to talk back to him. The quiet, scared "y-yes" doesn't come out today.
"Middle name Rose." comes out instead, confident and sarcastic.
W.D breathes the air out his nostrils and runs out the room. It makes me sad at first, but I know he'll come round soon.
We spend the rest of the day at the circus, while the circus get ready for the show tonight. I help out getting the set ready. It's boring, but at least I don't need to exert myself- now that the others know that I'm pregnant, they treat me as if I'm handicapped! I try not to snap back to anyone, but it is hard.
"Are you okay, Anne. Do you want to lie down on the sofa? It's got a good view of the stage." Phillip says, taking my hand, and trying to lead me to the sofa.
"I'm not handicapped!" I say, which is, like I've said, is what I've been wanting to say all day. But after the snap at Phil, all the anger and energy leaves me and I sigh in tire.
"But yes. I'd like to sit on the sofa." I say, and Phil laughs at me. I kiss him on the cheek. What a great husband he is.guys I'm from Britain, where we call a 'coach' a sofa, sorry if any of you got confused (I just realised) lol.
