Anne POV.
I looked into the eyes of my baby. The pregnancy had been an easy one; I was only in labour 4 hours and Six came out easily. It was painful, but not too much.
Phillip was sitting in the chair next to me, gazing at me and smiling.
"Our baby." He says, laughing. I laugh too, because it's surreal. Absolutely crazy, a year ago I would never have imagined myself, getting married to a white man and having a baby with him.
"Isn't she gorgeous?" I say, stroking my baby's face with my thumb.
"Certainly. She's adorable." Charity says, walking into my hospital room. Helen and Caroline, plus their father Phineas walk in after her.
"Charity!" Phillip says, standing up to hug her. "We'd like you to meet our daughter, Six." Charity gasps when she sees her.
"Oh, she's just beautiful." She says.
"Do you want to hold her?" I ask, and she nods. As Charity takes Six from my arms, I am not worried in the slightest she will drop her. Charity is a skilled mother.
"She's stunning! Hello, Six! Hello!" Phineas says, looking over his wife's shoulder and tickling Six's cheek. He grins and looks up at me.
"Good job." He says, which cracks me up and I laugh. Oh, what a good man, that Barnum.
For the next forty minutes, Helen and Caroline gush over my daughter and talk to her and play with her.
"I can't wait until we take her home." Phillip whispers in my ear, as I look at Charity kneeling on the floor, so that Helen and Caroline can talk to her.
"Six, did you know I have a massive play house at home, and you can play with it all you want!" Helen says, giggling. Caroline squeaks and claps her hands in excitement. I chuckle, I nearly wanted to tell Phineas he'd done a good job; I mean, his daughters where splendid. Just how I'm sure Six will turn out.
W.D rushes through the hospital door next. He hugs me, and gingerly shakes Phillip's hand, but practically falls in love with Six. He takes her from Charity and talks to her in a baby voice- W.D! Can you imagine! However, I make him sit next to the bed, W.D, unlike Charity, is not a skilled mother.
"Careful, W.D. Don't hurt her!" I say, reaching out my hand, as he pretends Six is on an airplane. He just rolls his eyes and hands me a bag.
Inside, there is baby suit. It is plain white, with the words Six Olivia Carlyle embroided on it in pink. There is also a hat, white with a rose embroided on it. I tear up at that, because it is a reference to Elissa, as her middle name is rose.
"Turn the hat inside out." W.D tells me, smiling. I do, and inside, embroided in pink, it says 'In death, there is always re-birth'. I nearly start sobbing.
"Oh, W.D, thank you. I'm sad you never got the chance to give Elissa something like this, but I'm sure Six will look back at it when she is older and smile." I say. My brother hugs me, with tears in his eyes.
"W.D. Thank you for this. It's...out of this world great!" Phillip says. He has the hat, turned inside out, in his hands and their are tears running down his cheeks. He said those words. Those very words. W.D nods modestly, and passes Six back to me. Phillip lays down on the hospital bed next to me, and together we hold our baby daughter Six Olivia Carlyle in between. Phillip is right, as he always is. In death there is always re-birth.Guys may I just say, I'm so proud of myself at coming up with the quote "in death there is always re-birth" lol 😂😂
anyway hope you enjoy this!!
