Hannah sees the machine and gets scared. It looks like a hat but he only consists of a few iron bars, which are placed around the head and at the front are kind of glasses attached. To the rear, many cables go away in a variety of colors. Jerome slowly lifts it over Hannah's head and grinning, he sets it down slowly. Hannah is wiggling wildly, panting very loudly and is very scared. The ice-cold iron bars wrap around her head and Jerome folds down the glasses. She can not see him anymore. She can hear him laughing softly and his footsteps as he walks around the lab. Jerome connects the cables to a large machine. It has lots of levers, buttons and a screen.

"Welcome to my world. Do you know when I was here, they have tested this beautiful device on me very often and believe me just after the first try, it was enough. But, you know what? They just didn't stop! So you get a taste of how the year was here in Arkham.", he tells her.

Hannah says no sound, she is glad not to be killed and takes the punishment in purchase. Hannah even thinks she deserves it.

"This great machine is even something very special. You are living through your life until now. But not the beautiful, no the worst, saddest and cruelest events. All the old memories come up again, oh how beautiful and the best is coming now. It would be boring if I just hear your screams and stand silly next to you. That's why this chic part has the screen. I can experience everything up close, like in the cinema.", he says enthusiastically to her.

He just wanted to flip the switch, but he goes to her again briefly.

"Totally forgot. We don't want you to break your beautiful white teeth.", he grins.

Jerome puts a piece of wood between her teeth so she can bite on it. Then he goes back to the counter and turns it on. After a second he hears Hannah screaming painfully behind him. She is literally cooked because the apparatus shoots strong electric shocks through her head and body. Hannah cramps immediately and bites as hard as she can on the piece of wood.

"The movie can begin.", Jerome talks to himself.

He gets a chair, sits in front of the screen and turns it on.

"Let's see what a nice life you've had so far."

Slowly the screen turns on and the noisy picture disappears over time. It starts when Hannah is 6 years old, she can not remember any further back.

The first school day

She happily stands in front of the school with her school bag and her relatives shoot pictures of her. Hannah says goodbye and enters the building with the other children. Everything is still beautiful, but when she enters the classroom, an old woman is standing in front of her.

"Sit down.", she mocks Hannah.

All chairs are already occupied except for one, at the back, alone in the corner. Silently she walks past the other children. They all stare strangely and do not look very nice either. And that's the way it is every day. Nobody talks to her, Hannah gets one punishment after the other from her teacher without doing anything. In addition, she has detentions almost every month and also write punishment in this time.
One day a girl talks to her, she's in her class.

"Hello, I'm Jenny.", she greets kindly.

Hannah answers nicely and they both knew they would get on well together.

Jerome looks a little unimpressed on the screen, but he keeps looking.

2nd Class

Jenny and Hannah have become one heart and one soul, but Hannah is still marginalized by the others. Slowly, the other children also start to bully her. They throw pins at her, smear their glue in her hair, insult her and much more. Jenny gets everything with but does not do anything. She is the most popular in the class and is treated by all as a kind of queen. From time to time it gets worse and worse and Hannah gets sadder and Jenny gets more and more conceited. One day, she has enough and she's going to a boy from the fourth class.

"You get $ 5 from me when you hit the brown haired one back there.", Hannah says furiously to the boy.

"Are you crazy, I don't hit a girl.", he replies angrily.

Angrily, Hannah returns, but when she attends school the next day, Jenny is not there. Her parents have told the teacher that she will not go to school for a few days because yesterday she was beaten up by a boy on her way home. The boy had lined her up to get the lesson from Hannah. The teacher confronts Hannah in front of the whole class, so everyone can hear what she has done. Hannah had not meant in offer seriously and yesterday she was just mad at Jenny. That the boy would really hurt her, she would not have expected. Hannah is deeply saddened and deeply regretted, but the teacher suspends her from school for a week. As Hannah is on her way home, her male classmates are following and begin to beat and kick her.

"That's for Jenny."

Crying with broken clothes, broken school supplies and bruises she goes home.

Hannah has aroused Jerome's interest and he keeps watching.

But at home was not much better. Hannah's mother is a single parent and both are not doing very well. Her mother cleans toilets to somehow bring money home. But all the frustration and despair she leaves out on her daughter. Hannah's dad abandoned her early because he cheated on her mother when Hannah was still a baby. Hannah also had a brother, but he died before she was born, so she never saw him. But the terrible event is still gnawing on her mother. Hannah is beaten daily by her mother, mostly with the wooden spoon. Often they have already had to buy a new one because she were hit so hard that it broke.
Her mother often took action to lock Hannah in a dark room for several hours, and no matter how much she cried, she did not care. Or to put her in the evening without any warm clothes at the front door, even in winter and that at 7 or 8 years. Hannah was still a very happy child but it was shattered more and more by the school and her mother.

Jerome's grin disappears slowly and he keeps looking serious. The events touch him more than he thinks, because his mother was not very different to him.

The psychologists

Hannah behaves more and more strangely and increasingly divorces her mother. However, she can not understand it and literally forces her to love her mother. This only makes Hannah's hatred for her bigger. Hannah has no friends and plays a lot alone. Her only friend was her cat, whom she loved above all, and he loved her too. Most of the time she rides her bike to her favorite playground, which is almost an hour away by bike. But she doesn't care, she packs enough food and drink on the weekend, she leaves in the morning and comes home in the evening. And almost every weekend.
At age 9, Hannah gets her first psychologist, a very nice adult lady, Mrs. Birke. She has to come to her office twice a week. Hannah plays games with her and always tells what the last few days have happened. Mrs. Birke always looks at her happily and takes notes. For two years she takes care of Hannah and the two already have a really good relationship. But Mrs. Birke makes Hannah's mother the suggestion to put her under permanent care. She likes the suggestion and without an arrangement with her daughter she is taken to a clinic on the ward "Child and Youth Psychosomatic and Psychotherapy". Hannah is only allowed to go home every second weekend, the only thing that makes her sad is that she almost does not see her cat so much anymore. Hannah has her own room, otherwise only the lounge and hallway are available. She sits there for a year and does not even understand why. Hannah was just told that she is different.
