The relationship with her mother was getting worse and after a few weeks she had a boyfriend. He had a little daughter. Hannah and Veronika got along very well and almost became sisters. However, Veronika was very spoiled and got only the most expensive and best, while Hannah sat next to and had to watch. Pile of toys Veronika broke anyway and Hannah did not even get a tenth of it. Over time, the boyfriend of Hannah's mother became increasingly mean and rude until he started beating her mother. There was a row in the house every day, no matter who triggered it. And when he beat her mother again, Hannah hid in her room. He started drinking alcohol, it only made him more aggressive until he also started punching Hannah and throwing things at her. He also had guns in the house and Hannah and her mother were scared of being shot by him every day. Hannah almost never came home and if she was at home, she almost never left the room. This went on for five years until her mother finally had the courage to leave him. Hannah took a lot of time and closed herself. At school, she spoke almost nothing, when someone addressed her she played a cheerful Hannah. She had already gotten used to the bullying at school and almost did not interest her anymore. It was normal for Hannah that someone called her a "fat cow". Hannah's mother met a new friend and they moved in with him. Hannah is now 15 years old and has long since become a mentally ill person. The last therapy was five years ago and she does not tell anyone anymore about her current condition. With her new boyfriend, Hannah's mother had a grasp on the toilet as well, because he is not a bit better. He gets drunk every week, comes home and challenges everyone and everything. Hannah always locks her door when she knows they'll be home soon. By now, she already hates her body so much that she starts doing sports, which also helps. Hannah gets a normal figure again and keeps her tight. Only a few weeks after her 16th birthday she finds out about Jerome. His riots at that time went through the media worldwide. Hannah continues the decision to move. She lied to her mother that she got in Gotham a great job offer and her mother said goodbye to her sadly. It was not a hard decision for Hannah to go on.

The screen turns black and Jerome turns off the machine. He is chalk-white and takes a deep breath. Then he wipes his hand over his face and processes the thing once. Behind him he hears a soft sob. He quickly gets up and releases Hannah from the iron shackles. Then he takes the device from her head and looks deep into her sad, tear-stained eyes. Jerome stays silent he just looks deep into her eyes. Both have almost the same eyes, green on the outside, then slowly it goes on a hefty money over and around the pupil around a light brown. Jerome feels like he's standing in front of a mirror. It gets too much for him, he turns away and sits in front of her on a chair. Hannah wipes away her tears and hair from her face. She sits up and slides forward to Jerome. He runs his fingers through his hair and looks thoughtfully at the floor. Hannah sits down next to him in silence.

"Funny how similar our pasts were", he says calmly.

"Although I grew up in a circus, my mother was a monster for it as well. And your classmates were, so to speak, the others in the circus."

Both look at each other and see in the other the neglected and broken child. For the first time, Hannah sees humanity in Jerome and not just pure madness. She only loves him more for that. Suddenly both are interrupted by Jervis. He tears open the door of the laboratory and says to both:

"Come on! You've been in here for half an hour now."

Both come to themselves and get up.

"Where are we going?", Hannah asks.

"We're leaving from here.",he grins at her.

Hannah grins at him and they both follow Jervis. Together, everyone sneaks past the guards.

"They do a really bad job.", comments Hannah.

"Things have changed a lot in Arkham. Lately, the guards are better for us no matter what we do here.", Jervis replies.

They continue to an office where the head of Arkham Asylum sits. Jervis knocks on the door and all three enter.

"Can I help you somehow?", asks the man.

He is skinny, very old, he wears a white coat and big glasses on his nose. He sits at his desk and writes on a sheet. Jervis takes out his pocket watch and begins the same process as with the guard until he is hypnotized. Hannah looks fascinated.

"You will now issue a certificate for patients Jerome Valeska, Hannah Black and Jervis Tetch that we are healed.", he orders the man.

Without hesitation, he brings out the documents and signs them. Then he gives them to Jervis, who proudly passes them on to Jerome and Hannah. Hannah looks at her document in amazement.

"Freedom.", Jerome talks softly to himself.

He laughs briefly and all three leave the office. Everyone goes to the exit with pride and shows their documents to the guards. You are allowed to continue. It's raining outside, Hannah quickly puts her certificate under her clothes so it will not get wet. They walk through the yard and the guards open the gate.

"From here our ways separate now.", Jervis says happily to Jerome.

"It was a nice time.", he answers with a laugh.

"I have another bill with James Gordon open."

Jerome laughs. Jervis goes right and Hannah and Jerome left. Together, both go through the rain towards Gotham.
