Ch//18

Nikki's pov
    After finding the bra in Colby's room I knew that it was time to just be straight up with him. He got back two days ago and ever since then I've been staying at mine and Kats  apartment and not texting or calling him.
     But today I asked him to come over so we could talk about something. It's 10 am and he is about five minutes away. Or at least that's what he said.
   Kat was out hiking with Sam so I was sitting on the floor by myself with papers in front of me.
     I heard a knock and then the door opened revealing Colby. He smiled and I smiled back. Even though I was pissed I wasn't about to show it or put that stress on myself or the baby.
    "Hey, how was Kansas?" I asked as he sat down on the floor with me.
"It was Kansas. How was being in LA?" He asked me.
   "It was LA" I said moving the papers away from me so I could focus on what we were about to talk about.
    "So I was at the house the other day, and I left my bag my purse in your room so I went to go get it and when I did I found something" I said reaching over to my bag pulling out the bra. His face turned white.
   "It's not mine and Devyn said there was a girl at the house when I wasn't there" I said handing him the bra.
   "Nikki... it wasn't.... I. I don't know what to say" he said finally giving up.
      "Don't say anything. Just be honest. If this isn't what you want say it. Because obviously you don't want me and that's fine but if you're going to leave this baby just be straight up and do it now before she comes into this world. Just because she doesn't have a dad ran doesn't mean she will need one later on" I said to him.
   He got very quiet before looking down. The next thing he said didn't really shock me at all.
    "Nikki I am not ready to be a dad yet. I don't want to be." He said. I nodded my head sighing.
    "I'm not ready either but I'm going to be for this baby girl. I think it's time for you to leave Colby" I said. He looked down before sighing and getting up. He walked towards the door and I could tell he looked back to say something.
    But instead he opened the door and walked out. I didn't cry or break down. I just. Continued  to work.
    If my momma could raise a baby by herself so can I.
  The rest of the day I put together more ideas. Katrina had come home but went to go shower. I wasn't going to explain what happened or anything because it is what it is. He isn't ready. I respect that.
    My phone buzzed and I grabbed it seeing Jakes name pop up.
Jake:): hey mind if I come help with ideas?
To Jake:): sure

   Jake and I were pretty close but we didn't have that much time to hangout. He got here within ten minutes and just like any of our friends he knocked then walked in.
   "Hey buddy" I said looking up and smiling at him.
  "Hey" he smiled sitting down with me. I heard the water turn off and knew Kat would be coming down any minute.
  "So have you decided where it's gunna be?" He asked me looking at all my papers.
"Welp there's this really nice park and it's out doors but Devyn suggested to do it at the house" I said.
   "Well the house does seem nicer." He said. I nodded.
"But then my other friend Amy has like a bigger yard and she offered to have it there so I think I'm gunna go with that" I said.
    "Are guys allowed to come?" He asked me.
"I don't see why not" I said with a smile. He helped me put together little goodie bags and find ideas for drinks and food.
   "Oh hey Jake I didn't know you were coming over" Katrina said as she got off the last step.
   "I decided to come help Nikki" he smiled. I looked back at her smiling. She came and sat down with us.
    "So what is the baby's name gunna be?" He asked me.
"That's for me to figure out and know and for you to find out" I said giggling. He and Katrina laughed.
    "You haven't decided?" He asked me.
"Nope I mean I have ideas but I just want a name for her that makes her stand out" I explained.
    "Oh we gotta do our weekly photo" Kat said sitting up straight then standing up and grabbing the camera. I stood up and stood next to the sheet we had hung up. It was a sparkly pink.
   I went to the side and she took a photo. We did this every week and would soon put it in a video.
     "Well I told Sam I'd meet him for dinner so I'm gunna get to going but I'll be back in an hour or two. Maybe four" she said grabbing her purse. I laughed at her. She left and Jake and I went back to working.
    "What if you did like pink and yellow?" He said. I scrunched up my nose.
"Light pink and black?" He said. I thought for a moment before nodding.
  "I like that!" I said as I thought of the colorful ness.
"Did you see what Katrina got me?" I asked him. He shook his head no and I motioned for him to follow me. We went up to my room and I showed him the bed. I hadn't set it up yet but it was still in the box.
   "Isn't it cool. It connects to the side of my bed so I'm basically sleeping right next to her and she can't like fall into the crack of her crib" I said.
    "That's pretty neat" he said checking it out. He looked at the box and looked at ,y bed.
"I love it" I said.
    "So how are you and Colby" he asked me as we stood in my room.
"Ugh don't even get me started" I said with a little chuckle. He looked at me confused.
      "Colby said he isn't ready to be a dad and he doesn't wanna be one yet" I said with zero emotion. He looked shocked then mad.
    "Are you serious! I, having a talk with him when I get home that's bullshit!" He said.
"Jake its fine really. I'll show him that we don't need a man. My mom did it so can I" I said rubbing my stomach.
   "I'll help you" he said to me. I looked at him with a confused look this time.
"Alright look, I've liked you since the day I met you. I thought you were so damn beautiful and then you got with Colby and I missed my chance. And then you got pregnant and I thought wow there goes my chance for real. But if he won't help you with her then I want to help you" he poured out.
    I stood there shocked. I didn't know what to say.
Isn't it funny how we adore the ones who ignore us and ignore the ones who adore us? I guess I really was blind.
