Chapter 13. Tension.

The next day Sophie called the horses again, and the Casper High crew set off towards Phantom's Keep.

While she was riding on Nightmare's back, she felt dizzy, and light blue smoke came out of her open mouth.

"Undergrowth..." She growled, shaking her head.

"What's wrong, Sophie?" Dani asked her, drawing attention to the pale and terrified girl.

"I... it's nothing Dani. I'm fine." Sophie lied, grabbing Nightmare's reins tighter.

"Are you sure?" Dan asked her.

"No, ho visto Undergrowth.1" Sophie switched to Italian.

"E qual è il problema?2"

"Sono terrorizzata da lui e ne consapevole. Ho paura, Dan...3" Sophie whispered.

"Cos'è successo?4"

"Quando avevo dieci anni, mi ha rapita e ha tentato di trasformarmi in una come lui... Mi ha iniettato parte del suo ectoplasma... Mi ha dato nuovi poteri... e poi...5" She couldn't finish the sentence.

"Wait... What?" Dan was furious.

"Yeah..."

"It's not going to happen to you again, I promise..."

"Thanks, but I have to face my fears."

"As you wish." A deep voice rang out from around them.

"Undergrowth..." She growled.

"Everyone! We have to stop for a while!" She pulled Nightmare's reins so that she'd stop.

"Why?"

"There's a little problem." Sophie narrowed her eyes.

"How dare you call me little!"

"I do as I want. Now leave them alone!" She roared.

"As you wish" Undergrowth chuckled, and green vines started crawling towards her.

"Not so fast, old weed." Sophie smirked and commanded the vines to form a beautiful ladder that descended onto the island beneath them.

"Everyone, go! You'll be safe down there!" Sophie commanded.

"What? Cower there in fear of some weeds?" Lucas snickered.

"I said go, Sanchez." Sophie said, her voice going harsh and slightly demonic.

"Fine, fine." He waved his hand and started to climb down, when a vine grabbed him by the waist and ripped him off the ladder, throwing him onto the island beneath.

"You had to go faster." Sophie smirked down at the blond boy.

"Join me and you'll be even more powerful than you already are!" Undergrowth exclaimed, materializing right in front of her.

"I'd never do that, and you know that!"

"Well, then you'll have to die!"

"Close your eyes guys, this is going to be messy!" Sophie hollered.

"Why?" Paulina asked.

"She said close your eyes, and no questions!" Dan snapped at the Latina.

Sophie transformed, and a purple-blue flame engulfed her.

"I asked you to leave me alone nicely once, I told you to leave with a couple of punches, but you didn't listen. Now you're gonna get destroyed. Even worse, you're going to get terminated, pesky weed." Sophie's voice had a demonic undertone, and her eyes started glowing.
