COMMENTS

Note: This story is written by two different authors  and it switches between three character perspective - each of them have their own style.

The beginning reminds me of Dystopian novels where a character tries to/successfully escape(s) from the tyrannical society they lived in - the kinds of books I enjoy. I am interested to see how magic and fantasy will play a role in the upcoming chapters.

I really enjoyed reading the first chapter. The writing is so detailed with great imagery and world-building. The author balances narration with inner thoughts. The chapter was quite intense and full of suspense and anticipation that I couldn't stop reading. The story is compelling and the first chapter drew me in. It did a great job of introducing the characters and showing their personality - it is all in the details. I can tell you love to use similes (not a bad thing) and you have an extensive vocabulary - I have never heard the word "filigreed" before. Well done.

I think for new readers the largest thing to be prepared for is the change in style. Seth's point of view is less detailed than Eliviara (Livi), a bit more casual, and at times it is unconventional grammatically (i.e. purposely beginning a sentence with the numeric form of two - ex. "2 chocolate eyes"; a beautiful made-up word called 'alkemitically', et cetera). Honestly, the change can be quite jarring, but it also means the styles are distinctive and true to the characters. Seth seems more 'in his head' than Livi -  we hear/read his inner thoughts much more and there seems to be less description of the landscape. Perhaps the style suggests something about his character and/or mental state?

There are some minor errors, but nothing that would deter me from reading.
