Things my mama didn't know

My mama didn't know about me –

I was there one minute

and the next I was gone.

My mama didn't know about me –

but boy did she cry.

cry.

cried.

cries.

I know my mama misses me

and she wonders what she did so wrong.

My mama didn't know about me –

but something still broke inside her

the day I went away.

My mama didn't know –

that losing me would hinder

Relationships.

Friendships.

so much

as it has.

have.

will.

My mama didn't know about me –

but she still trembles with jealousy

every time someone brings their baby

home.

Please forgive my mama –

It's not that she doesn't want

you to be happy –

it's only because she's missing

me so much.

My mama doesn't know –

that I watch over her every day.

My mama didn't know about me –

but that doesn't mean she

didn't love me.

(she still does.)
