Trigger Warning // Miscarriage
--
Sometimes I wonder –
if you would have been
your father and mine's
saving grace.
Sometimes I wonder –
if you hadn't gone away
if we would have been
a family.
Sometimes I wonder –
if your father would
have stepped up to
the plate.
Sometimes I wonder –
if he even acknowledges
that you were here.
(you were here –
maybe in the briefest
of moments –
but you were here.)
Sometimes I wonder –
If you would have been
a Christmas baby,
wrapped in green
and red
and maybe a silver bow too.
Sometimes I wonder –
if you would have been
your daddy's girl
or mama's boy.
Something I don't have to wonder –
is that –
you would have been
my world.
