Waking Up

I'm drifting in and out of consciousness, not knowing how much time passed in either state. I can't feel, see, or hear. I just know when I'm awake, conscious in an infinite blackness devoid of everything. Weeks, months, years, same difference. But... how did I get here? I keep remembering thoughts, fragments of conversations, my mind too numb to put it into visuals.

'If she ever really knew just how much.'

'How did you- *****? I thought it was you-'

'THIS WORLD NEEDS STARS MORE THAN IT NEEDS CORPSES! TOODLES!'

'What if I ask nicely?'

'Rotten ingredients can always be discarded~'

'you really got to him, huh?'

'You are no longer the future of humans and monsters.'

'very clean, compared to the 'ash-filled wonderland' eh, kid?' ... kid.

'flowey, 1,080,849... that is the number of times she has killed you.' She...

'so you killed me, now what?' ... You?

'So what now, are you just going to fight me, or continue to babble?' Sans?

'kid, i know you can do better. well no, you can't' ...

'Okay, Sans, do you know anything about her? Like a name?' Name...

'beats me.' Sans.

I jump awake, I quickly try to look at my surroundings. I'm... in a tube, some liquid surrounding me. I pull out the cords and needles attached to me right as someone starts to walk by.

I act quick as he starts to look over; I push against the glass and leap from the back, punching through the glass. I'm able to grab the man's hair and pull his head through the small hole in the glass right as I hear a drowned out siren sound blare through the facility. I have to act fast.

I force the man's head down, cutting his neck on the bottom of the hole. He tries to struggle before I punched down on his head, finally severing it from his body before it's sucked out of the tube as his lifeless body falls to the floor, a SOUL being left in its place. A Kindness SOUL, oh well, it'll have to do.

I smash the rest of the glass enough for me to get out, flooding the area with more water, finally pulling off the thing on my face allowing me to breathe, grabbing the SOUL. I focus more on where I am as I create a shield around me. I'm on somewhat of a second floor, an outline of the one below, with railing, having more tubes around the perimeter. I'm in an unfamiliar environment, I need more than a shield. I need my knife.

I take down the shield, leaping off of the second floor, slamming down to the first with enough force to create a shockwave, knocking over someone with a lab coat against a wall. The two men seemed to be the only ones guarding me. What a mistake.

I walk over to the man, trembling, trying to crawl closer to the wall, away from me. I grab his neck, starting to choke him. "Where is my knife?"

"I don't know where it is! I swear!" He frantically tried to pull my hand away, speaking so frail I barely heard him over another siren sound.

I leaned in closer, staring into his eyes. "Then you're no use to me." I clenched my hand into a fist as hard as I could, crushing his neck, squirting blood everywhere. I started to look around more as the man's body slid down the wall, seeing hallways after hallways, at the end of the main one were a bunch of military soldiers in all black walking up, each with a tinted glass shield of their own. They were all headed by what looked like a commander, but he had something on his belt that looked, off. It wasn't until they got closer that I realized it was my knife.

"We finally meet. Pray tell, how after so many months of nothing you were able to escape from your confinement."

Months, so it has been that long. But it brought up the question, how did I get out, every time I was conscious I wasn't able to think, or even decipher what I was thinking in any way, how was I able to all of a sudden?

"Giving me the silent treatment?" He was still there.

"The details are irrelevant-" I looked at his name tag. "MacGrath, now hand over my knife."

"That's General MacGrath to you. And this isn't your knife, not like you'll be awake enough for you to use it. Get in formation!"

All the men formed a circle around me, ready to fire. I can't risk getting tranqed again. I bring up a shield, waiting for the 'general' to make a move. Yet it didn't take long to see that he was just waiting for my shield to drop. It isn't going to drop anytime soon, but I have to start thinking of a plan...

'you thought you were just scratching the surface of your potential when you made that blast, hehe, you're not even close to the surface, you haven't even entered the atmosphere'

Damnit, I hate to admit it, but again he's the one to make me think of how to get stronger. A potential I have yet to tap into, something that was always possible. Or maybe is just now possible. My SOUL, and the one from the guy I decapitated. What if I could combine the two, the sheer force of Determination with the shielding potential that comes with Kindness? Well, there's only one way to find out.

Game Saved.

I sit down, looking straight at the general to make sure he thought I was in with the plan to wait. I focussed on the SOULs. The ones I've been interchanging whenever they were useful, the powers I can feel, instead of limiting my attention on one or the other, now giving some of the Determination to the Kindness, making it more powerful. The almost ultimate defense merged with the essence of the most powerful offense. Though it isn't a matter of feeling like my slashes. This'll take practice. Good thing I've got all the time in the world. Sans isn't here yet, where he would have been the first to know, which means he must be busy or waiting for me to make my move, but I'm not quite ready yet. I stare at the general, smiling. This is going to be fun.
