Betty gazed lovingly at Archie. His eyes, the color of sunlight through a whiskey bottle, were enchanting. She glanced down at her wrist.

AA was tattooed on it.

AA for Archie Andrews of course!

After all, you're born with the initials of your soulmate on your wrist. Archie was her one and only, her true love, her soulmate.

That is, until her world was turned upside down.

The silver bell on the door of Pop's twinkled, and a hooded figure glided to the register. "Two burgers and two milkshakes please," sounded a female voice. "Chocolate," she added quickly. Pop Tate nodded and shuffled to the kitchen. Meanwhile, the cloaked woman danced towards them.

She pulled off her hood, revealing a gorgeous coffee complexion. Her eyebrows were arched and seductive. Her immaculately curled hair was the color of the night sky. Betty noticed the rest of her outfit. She wore a purple velvet dress, adorned with shiny egg-white pearls.

"I'm Veronica. Veronica Lodge," she said, striking a handshake with Archie. Her cloak shifted ever so slightly, displaying that she too had AA tatted on her wrist. She turned to face Betty, a blinding white smile on her face. "It's really nice to meet you."

Archie was clearly enamored with her. The way his jaw dropped, the way his beautiful eyes stared at her in wonder. Betty could have sworn that for a split second, he glanced at his wrist.

He seemed to snap out of it as he stammered, "Would you like to sit down with us?"

Betty couldn't help but glare at the two of them.

Thankfully, she politely declined.

*TIME SKIP: AT THE DANCE (season one, episode one)*

Betty locked her arms around Archie, once again spotting the AA tattooed on her wrist.

"Now that I'm a vixen, and you're on the football team, I have this crazy vision of us together. As a power couple," she stuttered, seeing the confusion etched on his face, "or maybe even just a couple."

He pried her arms off of him and looked at her almost in disgust.

"Is that so hard to imagine?" she whimpered.

As he walked away, she caught his arm with a pleading look. And then she saw it.

It.

It.

His tattoo was not BC for Betty Cooper. Instead, it read VL.

For the first time since Veronica Lodge arrived, Betty despised her. Suddenly, a sharp pain began on her wrist, where her tattoo was. She saw it start to fade and morph terrifyingly. When she woke up the next morning, AA for Archie Andrews, her supposed soulmate, was not there at all.

*TIME SKIP: HEY THERE JULIET*

Betty lived without a tattoo for a while. Empty. Halfhearted. The pain continued without dwindling, but she barely noticed anymore.

A knock at her window startled her. She turned around to see Jughead Jones balancing on a ladder leaning on her window. She ran over to the sill and pulled it open.

"Hey there Juliet," he mused.

She giggled. She helped him climb into her room, pulling on his jacket sleeve. She caught a glimpse of his arm. BC was tattooed on it.

He pulled her in for a kiss, his sweet lips pressing against hers. He could taste the strawberry lipgloss. When they finished, he drew a deep breath, as if it as something he'd always been nervous to do.

She shyly shifted her gaze to the floor. However, what she really wanted was to check on her arm. She felt that the numb, dull pain left by AA had vanished.

Now it said JJ in it's place.
