[Shopping for Prom]
I stared at the huge array of dresses in front of me,
While Syria and her posse animatedly discussed which dress was the cutest and which would attract the most boys.
I shuddered.
Ten random boys crowding around you for prom?
No, thank you.
We had been in the mall looking through all the available dresses for 2 hours
But I still couldn’t find that
Perfect
Dress.
I sighed and started taking dresses out and imagining myself in them.
I wrinkled my nose at most of them;
Too yellow,
Too red,
Too skimpy,
Too showy…
Man, who knew finding a decent dress would be so hard?
[Shopping With Adriane :P]
No, I didn’t find the perfect dress during that shopping trip.
I ended up watching Syria and the others checking out their dresses,
Wishing I had found a dress too the whole time.
No,
I found the dress when I was out for a walk in the mall with Adriane.
‘… So she asked me to start hanging out with me again. It’s all happening really fast and- Ohmigosh, Adriane, look at that!’
Adriane suddenly looked up from her smoothie and looked in the direction I was pointing at.
She had said she did not mind me spending a bit of time with Syria and all,
But she did not really like her
Considering what she did.
Anyway,
‘That. Is one smashing dress.’
Adriane told me,
‘You thinking what I’m thinking?’
We looked at each other and burst into laughter.
Then, we linked arms and walked into the shop,
Determined to try on that perfect dress.
[That Perfect Dress]
It was white,
And empire-waisted,
With a champagne-coloured Organza skirt
And gold ribbon wrapped around the waist.
I had never seen anything like it.
And neither had Adriane, apparently.
‘You take it.’
‘No, you take it.’
‘It looked perfect on you!’
‘No, it looked better on you!’
‘You need to look better because you actually have a date to prom!’
‘But still! You saw the dress first!’
‘I don’t care.’
I shoved the dress towards Adriane and smiled.
‘It’s yours.’
‘Well, I don’t want it.’
Adriane announced, handing the dress to me.
I looked at her and opened my mouth to say something but Adriane clapped her hand over my mouth.
‘Go and try the dress on again.’
She growled in her sternest voice.
I nodded and scurried into the dressing room.
‘It looks perfect on you! Now go pay for it and wow the boys at prom babe!’
Adriane teased, giving me the thumbs up.
I shook my head at her and headed for the cashier.
Wow the boys indeed.
