[One Day Left…]

It was one day to prom.

Everyone was so psyched that the hallways in school were especially noisy today.

I had a tiny smile on my face even though I had no idea whether I would still be attending prom.

But if I did not,

The money spent on my prom dress would go to waste.

But I did not have a date.

I would look like a pathetic loser because I would be

All

Alone.

I was so envious of Adriane.

She had a date of course,

Considering the fact that she was so pretty.

I sighed.

I had everything…

But a date for the most awaited event of the year.

[Lunch]

Today, Caine decided to sacrifice his beauty sleep to get to meet Adriane.

After all, he did want to know the ‘people I mingle with’.

Our conversation was obviously,

On prom.

It was the eve of prom after all.

‘No school tomorrow!’

Caine whooped, throwing a Jelly Belly into his mouth.

I stole one from his pack,

Earning a scowl from him and replied

‘But there’s prom tomorrow,

You have to prepare.’

‘I’m not like you girls, I don’t take a whole morning and afternoon to prepare.’

Adriane poked him and retorted defensively,

‘We do not! Only those girls who are totally into boys would do that!’

Caine snorted.

‘Isn’t that the entire female race?’

Adriane wrinkled her nose and dug into her sandwich.

‘Point made.’

She replied, her mouth full of turkey bacon and vegetables.

‘So Caine, who’s that lucky girl who’s going to prom with you?’

I asked, wiggling my eyebrows.

‘I have a girl in mind. But I haven’t asked her yet.’

He replied, popping another Jelly Belly into his mouth.

‘Prom is tomorrow.’

‘Well, you’re one to talk. You don’t have a date too!’

Caine replied, folding his arms and smirking.

‘He has a very good point.’

Adriane said in between bites of her sandwich.

I laughed somewhat bitterly.

‘It’s alright,

I was born to walk…

And dance

Alone.’
