The weeks continued to progress, the little family adjusting more and more every day, and the days slowly began to draw nearer and nearer to Harry's 5th birthday. Remus and Sirius wanted this birthday to be special, seeing as he hadn't had a proper birthday party since he was only a year old. Remus and Sirius also went to the local shopping centers to buy Harry clothes, toys, books, and some magic things that he would enjoy, but they traded off who went and who stayed so that Harry wasn't alone or suspicious. The two also invited a few people they knew that Harry would make quick friends with.

Harry had walked in on his dads quietly discussing things, he had no clue what about, but they would hastily stop upon seeing Harry enter the room. Harry started to get upset and treated his dads with silence right back as the days progressed. With Harry's birthday approaching ever quicker, it hurt the men's hearts to know that Harry had never had a true birthday since he lived with his mother and father. It also hurt to not see him as excited about his birthday as most children are.

The three currently were sitting down for dinner, eating in silence. Harry had his head down looking at his plate making Sirius and Remus exchanged a glance. Sirius cleared his throat and Harry looked up at him.

"So, are you excited for tomorrow, Harry?" Sirius asked. Harry merely shrugged and looked away from his godfather. "Why not, Harry? Most kids your age are over the moon about their birthdays. You're only going to be 5 years old once, mate!"

"Well... I-I didn't get to celebrate my birthday with the Dursley's. Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon only gave me things Dudley didn't want, usually his clothes or one of Uncle Vernon's old socks. "

"Y-you received your uncle's socks as a birthday present...?" Remus asked, both concerned and angered by that small piece of informaion. Harry nodded.

"No matter." Sirius said, regaining Harry's attention.  "Tomorrow, you are going to have the best birthday ever. Remus and I are going to make sure of it." Harry smiled up at the two men.

"Really?" Harry asked, beaming. He had the hope that he would get to be a normal kid for once, if only for a day.

"Really." Sirius and Remus said in sync.  Harry got up out of his chair and hugged them both very tightly,

"Thank you so much!" Harry said happily.

"You don't have to thank us just yet, Pup." Sirius replied, smiling widely.

"Daddy, is that what you and Papa were whispering about?" Harry asked Sirius, who couldn't help but smile at the names his, now adopted, son used for them.

"Sure is Pup." He said smiling and ruffled his untidy black hair, an exact duplicate of his father's, James, and looked into the emerald green eyes, originating from none other than Lily, his mother.

Remus smiles at the two and began to clean up the dishes from dinner. The three were now happily on talking terms again.

~Time Skip to the next morning~

Remus and Sirius had awoken earlier than normal to begin prepping for company and the big day. All of Harry's presents were wrapped and hidden away in their room. They were just tidying up the house and decorating for the birthday party. Remus was going to wait a while to start the birthday cake and Sirius was making certain that everything was going to be beyond perfect.

Harry awoke in his room and heard some movement downstairs and raced down the stairs and hugged Remus who was closest to him,

"G'morning, Papa!" He said happily. Remus hugged him back and replied,

"Happy birthday, Cub." Harry giggled and looked around for Sirius, but didn't see him.

"Where's Daddy?" Remus smirked a little and put a finger to his lips, and pointed at Sirius who had his back to them, unaware of their presence as he applied some streamers in the living room. Remus bent a little and whispered in Harry's ear,

"He didn't hear you come down, why don't you go and scare him." He said with a mischievous smirk plastered on his lips. Harry smiles the signature Potter smirk and tiptoed over to Sirius. He jumped in front of him and yelled,

"BOO!!" Sirius dropped the streamers and let out a very shrill, girly scream. Harry burst into laughter at this, Remus practically howling (#sorrynotsorry) with laughter. Sirius cleared his throat and composed himself.

"That. Was. Low. Lupin." Sirius said, still slightly flustered. Remus was still laughing and waved him off. Harry hugged Sirius' leg and looked up at him,

"It was Papa's idea Daddy." Sirius chuckles and ruffled his hair.

"Wow. Just got yourself thrown under the bus by a five year old. Karma sure is a bi-..." Sirius caught Remus's eyes and cleared his throat, "I mean karma is a jerk. Yeah. That's what I was gonna say." Remus shook his head, face flushed from laughing.

"You better watch your mouth Pads, Har is too young for that language."

"I know." Sirius says and looks down at Harry, who was still hugging his leg. Harry tilted his head,

"What language?"

"Grown up language that I hope I never hear leave your mouth." Remus said and looked back at Sirius, "You scream like a girl, you know that right?" He asked playfully. Sirius mumbles something that sounded very similar to 'bliss sloth', earning a scolding look from Remus.

After the little fiasco, they all got ready for the party. Remus and Sirius were happy to see Harry starting to act like a regular five year old kid.
