Chapter 3

Leonora's P.O.V.

I woke up in Emilie's, mommy's, arms. I smiled happily, feeling safe and loved. I always did when I was in her arms. She could be mad at me, she could be asleep, she could be unhappy, but her arms were always my safe place. The same as my arms were also her safe place, and always would be. And this made me happy. It made me happy to know that we were there for each other no matter what, that we had each other to lean on when needed. She was always there when I needed her, and I was always there when she needed me. And no one could take this away from us. No one could take this perfection away. No one could take our happiness, our love, away. I turned around in her arms and nuzzled her, burying my face in her chest and breathing in her scent.

After a while I could feel her stroking my hair. I looked up at her face and smiled.

"Good morning mommy. You slept well?"

She smiled and kissed the top of my head. "I did sweetie. Except when a certain little someone decided to lie on top of me," she added, winking.

I gasped. "Who did that? We need to find the culprit and punish them!"

"Oh really? And what should the punishment for the culprit be?"

"Mmmmmh.... the culprit has to give you a kiss!" However I suddenly realized that that was impossible. "But wait! They can't give you a kiss because you're my mommy and only I can give you kisses and then if someone else gives you a kiss I'll be mad and I'll have to tell them not to kiss you and because I'll be mad I won't be very nice and then you won't be very happy because you said that I have to be mommy's good girl and be nice to people and but if I get mad I won't be very nice and I'll probably say not-so-good words and you won't be happy." By the end of this I was out of breath, as I had spoken really fast and without stopping to catch my breath.

Mommy chuckled. "Well then we're both lucky because you are the culprit. So I get my kiss, and you won't have to get mad at anyone and you won't get in trouble for saying 'not-so-good words' as you say."

Smiling happily at how everything turned out alright, I gave her a kiss and rolled on top of her. It didn't surprise me that I had done so in my sleep, as she was always super warm and I just loved her smell.

"What I said was true, right?"

"It was baby, such a good girl, wanting to protect mommy from other people's kisses. You're such an intelligent little girl, you're so much more intelligent than me, don't you think?"

"No!" I gasped and widened my eyes. "Mommy's the most intelligentestest person ever!"

"Alright sweetie," she chuckled.

She then stood up, picked me up and carried me to the kitchen. Once there, she set me down in my seat and turned around to make breakfast.

"Can I have ice cream for breakfast, please?"

"You know that you can't have ice cream for breakfast. And it's November, it's too cold for ice cream."

"But pleeeeeeeease. Ice cream is good!! And it's never too cold for ice cream! You said so yourself once! Pleeeeeease mommy," I pleaded.

"No baby. Remember what I said about having ice cream?" She turned around and raised an eyebrow.

"That I can only have ice cream as a treat when I've been good," I mumbled, before adding excitedly, "but you said before that I'm a good girl! Isn't it true?"

"It is true. You are a really good girl. But that doesn't mean that you can have ice cream first thing in the morning. Or second thing," she added as I opened my mouth to speak, "now, how about we go out after breakfast and I buy you a cookie you want at the baker's? You can choose whichever you want, and you can eat immediately if you want. How's that sound?"

I thought about it for a while and nodded my head. "Okay. But you won't trick me, promise?"

"Promise. Now, how about some eggs for breakfast?"
