Chapter 3

"Beth! Dinner is ready! Come down!" I heard my mum yell, causing my eyes to open wide due to the sudden noise.

I rubbed my eyes and yawned before jumping out of my pink flower designed bed sheets. I shivered slightly when my foot touched the ground. I quickly ran to my home slippers which was across my bed and slipped into them.

I looked up and saw that the air conditioner was switched on , 16•c. I rushed to the remote control and adjusted the temperature to 25°c.

"Alright mommy!Give me a few minutes!" I yelled back and walked to my toilet.

I turned on the tap, scooped some water with my freezing hands and splashed the liquid on my face to ensure that I was awake. I tied my hair into a messy bun and adjusted my pink tank top which labeled "Smile" and my mini black shorts before jogging down the flight of stairs.

"Hey mom. Hey dad." I said, settling myself down onto one of the white cushioned chair.

"Hey honey. Guess you must be tired hence the long nap you took." Dad chuckled.

"Totally. My work at StarBucks would be starting tomorrow. I guess my shift would be at 10 from the morning to 6 in the evening." I informed before starting on my dinner.

Mother cooked Beef Pasta for dinner , Green Tea for drinks and dark chocolate cake for dessert.

I gently scooped some pasta and stuffed it into my mouth.

"Oh yes yes! Are you excited dearie?" Mum asked, taking a sip of her green tea.

"Kind off. "I replied and continued gobbling down the pasta.

"I can see that you're really hungry bethie. " Dad chuckled.

I flushed red and nodded my head. Well, I was really hungry. I did not eat for a few hours.

What dad said next made me turn even red. If that's even possible.

"So how are you and Justin?" He asked, looking at me.

"Fine I guess?" I chuckled, forgetting that I rarely see dad because of his job. He always finishes late and I rarely see him.

"Wow, very descriptive , Beth." Dad said sarcastically.

"I know right! Anyways dad, he flew off to London today with his family. They are on vacation. So I'd probably be seeing him when school reopens. " I explained.

"Oh I see. Yeah, I remember you told me that. Hence , to not die out of boredom, you chose to do a part-time job? How about Cassidy?" Dad asked, asking me even more questions.

"Oh Peter! Cassidy is on vacation with her boyfriend too!" Mum said, chuckling. Peter is my father's name.

"Thanks mum." I giggled and gave her a pat on her shoulder.

"Wow alright. Dessert time!" Dad announced, slicing the round dark chocolate cake into 6 pieces.

"Woo! Yay!" Mum and I cheered in sync, causing us to burst into fits of laughter.

I took a piece of cake and started chomping it down into my stomach with my 'oh-so-clean' teeth.

During dinner, we had many random conversations and laughter. Oh, how much I love my parents.

"Alright daddy and mummy. I need to call Justin and check out on his whereabouts. Bye bye. Catch you all later! Or probably tomorrow morning! I'm still kind off sleepy." I announced and hopped to my bedroom.

I searched around my room for my hand phone and realised that I left it for charging. I walked to my side table to unplug the charger from my phone.

I quickly jumped into bed and unlocked my password. I had 2 missed calls from Justin and one from Cassidy.

"Holy cow, I should have brought my phone along while having dinner." I thought to myself.

I recalled Justin and thankfully he picked up the call on the fourth ring.

"Justin!! Where are you now?" I asked.

"Beth! I safely landed in London! Don't worry!" He said.

"Yay good! Take care okay! Anything just whatsapp me. It's a lot of money to call another country." I noted.

"Yeap! I will catch up with you later love. Bye." Justin said and ended the call.

I heaved a sigh of relief and thanked God for the fact that Justin had landed safely in London.

I decided to call Cassidy and ask her how was she and Jake.

"Hey Cass! How are you in Holland?" I asked when she answered her call.

"Bethany! I'm fine! It's pretty cool here! I'll get you something for sure! Message me alright? When is your work starting?" she asked, shooting all kinds of questions.

"Right! Good! Oh and it's starting tomorrow! I'm rather excited." I replied.

"I see! Hope you have fun ! I got to go now Beth! Text me soon!" She said and cut the line.

I decided to text Justin and Cassidy every night so that much distraction would not be caused.

I laid down on my bed and thought about how my first day at work would be like. Slowly, without me knowing, I fell asleep.
