The sound of a loud crowd woke me from my sleep. I climbed out of the bed to head over to the window to see what was going on. I saw the majority of the town crowded around the wall, where Daniel was standing on top trying to calm everyone down. I quickly threw on my clothes and grabbed my weapons before running down the stairs. Once I was out of the house I spotted Dinah on the edge of the crowd, standing next to Normani. I made my way to stand by the two. "What's going on?" I asked over the noise of the crowd. Dinah turned to me with a shrug of her shoulders.

"Apparently someone tried to break into the town and when our guards caught him and questioned him, he said someone is after us. They have all the weapons, the people, everything to take over the town. They basically just want to kick us out." The taller girl informed me. I nodded my head and watched as Daniel finally calmed the crowd down enough so that he was able to speak. My eyes subconsciously searched for his daughter, wanting to make sure she was okay but I couldn't find her. Knowing Daniel though, he'd want his daughter inside somewhere safe so he didn't have to worry about her being in the mix of everything.

"Everything is under control, you don't have to worry." Daniel's loud voice boomed over the crowd. "Nobody will threaten our family and get away with it. I promise to you that we will keep our place, we will fight, and I will keep everybody safe as best as I can. We have a great collection of weapons and the best selection of fighters on our side, these people will be no match for us. This will be ours if they decide to attack but I advise everyone to keep their guard up. We can't trust people so easily anymore, and we will have to work extra hard to reinforce our protection to make sure nothing will get in. We will keep supplying our town to make it the best it will ever be. They will regret messing with our family." The crowd started cheering at his words.

There was no doubt how good of a leader Daniel was to these people, they trusted him with their lives and their families. I really admired that, knowing I made a good decision by staying here. The older man continued to hype up the crowd and rally them up with good words to make them feel safe. It wasn't long before everyone was satisfied by what they heard, so they began to disperse and help out around town with whatever they could. It was clear to see that they all wanted to start amping everything up as soon as they could. They expected the enemies to hit us very soon but I doubt they would. They wanted to make us paranoid with what was going on, I had seen it many times before. If the paranoia went on for so long, we would be forced to turn against each other and soon enough the enemy wouldn't have to do anything, we would destroy this town on our own. In the case that happened, I immediately knew what I would do.

Y/N would be my first priority. I'd get us the hell out of here. Hopefully one of these days I'd be able to find my own family. As much as I didn't want to admit it, I knew that if anything were to go down, I'd instantly try to look for Y/N and protect her as best as I could. I didn't know why that girl intrigued me so much but she did, I couldn't deny that. I had my eyes on her from the first moment I laid them on the girl. She was pulling me in, while also managing to push me away all at the same time. It only made me crave her even more; the chase. She would be mine whether she liked it or not. I was knocked out of my daze once I felt a nudge on my shoulder. I looked to see Dinah with a raised eyebrow. "I'm sorry, what?" I asked as both her and Normani started laughing. The darker skinned girl just shook her head while maintaining her laugh.

"We figured you were thinking about your girl since you're practically drooling." Dinah nudged the bottom of my chin playfully to give the impression that I acfually was drooling. I rolled my eyes before shaking my head causing their laughter to get louder. Before anything else could happen, I felt a small tap on my shoulder. I turned around in my spot to see a small blonde, one I hadn't seen before. Her blue eyes peered into mine and showed a sense of nervousness, along with her smile. I could hear Dinah and Normani trying to quiet down their laughs but it was still audible that they were there.
