The next morning I awoke I had actually felt well-rested for once. Of course in this zombie infested world there were many reasons not to get a good night's sleep so it was not very often for me to experience it. I stretched my sore muscles before standing up from the bed so I could get ready for the day. The next supply run wouldn't be until tomorrow so I didn't really have much to do until then; except of course trying to find Y/N so I could return her pictures to her. I hoped she wasn't too worried about losing them because they were safe with me, although technically not because I don't think I should have looked through the pictures. Y/N didn't have to know that though and I was hoping to keep it that way so she didn't think I was some creep or something. Oh god she probably thinks I would like jack-off to them or something since she had seen my boner before; and no one even had to do anything for me to pop one in front of her like that.

I was just being stupid about it like always, so I shook the thoughts away and readied myself with my belongings before heading out of the small house for the day. Even though the sun was barely rising, there were still a shit ton of people carrying out their daily duties. I wasn't sure if Y/N was going to be awake just yet but I knew I wanted to set out to find her before anything else. On my way throughout the town, I checked in with various people to see if they needed help but there was nothing needed to be done just yet. I opted to help with the farming that I had seen Y/N working on a couple of days ago since not a lot of people seemed to be working on that for the day. I would have to go see what was happening after I gave Y/N back her belongings. First thing was first though; I had to find said girl before I did anything else. I stepped onto the small street in search of the shorter girl so that I could hopefully set out on what I wanted to do.

I searched the streets for the shorter girl but eventually came to no avail. Daniel was by himself doing his own things with a group of his people so I knew his daughter wasn't going to be hanging around him much this morning. Plus, I was thinking there was some tension between the two ever since we came back from that whole hospital trip. I haven't seen the two interact much out in the eyes of others but I didn't know what would happen behind closed doors. I sighed to myself when I couldn't find the Y/E/C eyed girl so I started heading back to my house to hopefully drop off the box. I didn't want to hold it all day and risk losing it so I would just leave it in the small living room. Before I could continue my trek, however, an idea popped into my mind on where I could have possibly found Y/N in a last ditch effort. I headed back towards the tree we were sitting under less than twelve hours earlier. I was relieved to actually find the younger girl sitting with her crutches by her side.

Y/N was looking straight in front of her seeming like she had no cares in the world. I smiled to myself at the sight before hesitating to take a step forward. I knew I had to give her the box back because they contained sentimental pictures but I didn't want her to know that I may or may not sifted through the memories of her and her best friend. "Is this your favorite spot?" I decided to ask so that I could make my presence known. Y/N looked over at me as I came to sit down next to her but she grunted in response. I set the box between us and clasped my hands in my lap, waiting for an actual answer from the shorter girl. Y/N directed her gaze away from me so that it rested out in front of her again. The sun continued to rise in the sky but it was still pretty early in the morning. The days would grow colder soon as winter was on its way but I didn't want to think about that just yet. I was also somewhat relieved to hear that there were no zombies groaning beyond the fences this early in the morning.

"Something like that." Y/N mumbled through the silence which caught my attention. I looked over to see that she was now looking down at her lap where her hands rested. I let out a sigh at her behavior; I was hoping we wouldn't have to come back to this but I guess I was wrong. I hummed in acknowledgment and nodded my head even though I knew Y/N wouldn't even necessarily be able to see me. I so wish we hadn't gotten interrupted yesterday otherwise it would have been so much easier to talk right now. I saw from the corner of my eye that Y/N had begun to fumble with her fingers lightly that were still resting in her lap, almost as if she was nervous. I decided against grabbing her hand this time because I didn't want to push her further away if that was what was going on. I couldn't tell if it was me she wasn't happy about or what, but I knew that we had a great exchange the day before in this very spot and I was already missing that side of her.
