Chapter 5
"How am I just like you?" I asked in disbelief. "You're a killer, I'm the victim. My cousin is the victim. My PARENTS are the victims! Why did you kill them?!"
"You know what I said earlier, about needing a soul to come back to life? Well, they were... practice, for the real thing." As he said that, he looked at me hungrily, and I shrank back. "And I needed you to come to me.
"The others weren't strong enough," he continued. "That's what you and I have in common. We're stronger than other people."
"How do you know I won't break down all of a sudden?" I retorted.
"Because you would've broken down at your family's death, you wouldn't have continued into my mansion." he smirked.
"Well you've planned this out well." I said rolling my eyes. "Why should I even help you?"
"If you don't, I'll kill you." he said seriously.
"Um, I don't think that'll be a problem, since I'm already dead," I grinned widely. "Nice touch on the threat though. I like it."
He stared at me, speechless.
"What's your name, anyway? Rodriguez? You look like a Rodriguez." I said, still grinning.
"No... It's James. James Conrad. But most people call me The Chainsaw."
I burst out laughing. "What kind of name is that?" I asked. "I'm The Chainsaw!" I growled in a deep voice, and broke into an unstoppable fit of laughter. I think I was hysterical. Or in shock. Maybe a bit of both.
"It's because I usually kill people with chainsaws. They're... my weapon of choice. So do not get on my bad side," he said dangerously. My laughter faded.
Chainsaws? Seriously?
"So unless you want me to live up to my reputation right now and demonstrate on you, I suggest you stop talking and listen to me."
