Chapter 7
"What?" I protested. "I woke up in the middle of nowhere, watched my family die, met an insane psychopath," he rolled his eyes at that, "been told that I'm dead, and now you tell me you need me to help you come back to life. I think my amount of questions is justifiable." I said with great dignity.
He sighed. "Fine." Then he smirked. "We're in a mystical place far, far away from Earth that's ruled by unicorns. Most of its inhabitants are leprechauns."
"Ha-ha, you're so funny! I think I'm gonna pee myself from laughter!" I said sarcastically. "Just answer the dang question." Despite myself, I found my mouth quirking up at the corners.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry. I just couldn't resist," he chuckled. All at once his face became serious again. "We're in a state and place between life and death, I guess. We're not alive, but we're not QUITE dead yet."
I nodded. "Like limbo?"
"Um, yeah. Kind of."
"Continue."
"Well, anything can happen at this point. You can either die--for good--or you can find a way to come back to life."
"You know, for a villain, you're not actually that evil," I casually commented.
He looked at me, startled. "What?"
"You're not actually that mean or scary," I clarified.
"Oh, really? Did you forget the part about me being able to kill you? If you die in the afterlife-that's the in-between state, where we are right now- then you die for good. That's what I'm offering you. A chance to come back to life. Do not throw it away. At least I know you'll help me this way. You wouldn't miss a chance to go back to the world of the living, would you?" he asked dramatically.
I hesitated. "Okay, convinced. You're still not very evil though." I squeaked as he basically eye-daggered me, a glare I immediately dubbed 'The Look'. "Continue?" I squirmed under The Look. "Don't interrupt this time. It's going to take forever to explain if you comment every other minute."
I looked at him innocently, my face the image of an angel.
"Since anything can happen, we can find a way to help us both come back to life. I know that taking someone else's soul is one way, but I don't know how to actually do it. And since I don't, then we have to find some other ways."
