Chapter 9
I looked at him closely. He looked sincere enough. I was a born lie detector.
I sighed as I thought about everything he told me. My parents were dead, I was half-dead, my sister was here in a coma, which meant she had somehow died too, and I had to help my murderer come back to life. How'd he kill me anyway? He was dead! Blah. That was a question to ask later. My head felt like it was about to explode. I needed-
"Sleep! I need sleep!" I suddenly yelled.
James jumped about a foot in the air, making me burst out laughing. I tried to control my giggling, with him staring at me.
"You do this a lot, don't you?" he frowned.
"Yep," I grinned.
He muttered something under his breath that sounded a suspicious lot like "Bloody wonderful."
"Hey! I'm a wonderful person. I just start giggling a lot when I'm tired," I defended.
"Well then... go sleep."
"Okay!" I smiled widely. "Good night!"
He sighed. "Good night, Emma. But I still have to show you your room."
"I have a room?" I asked, excited.
"Of course. If you're going to help me, you might as well be comfortable," he smirked.
"Awesome!" I grinned.
He led me outside, turned a corner, walked halfway down a corridor, and opened a door that led to another hallway.
"What the hell? I'm going to get lost a lot," I warned.
He didn't say anything but smirked, and kept on walking.
Finally, we stopped in front of a simple wooden door. He opened it, and walked in. I followed him in and felt my jaw drop.
The room was painted bright red. There was plush carpeting of the same color, and there was a huge bed-king-sized-with about a bazillion white pillows. Everything was either red or white. The sofa, the armchair, the desk, the door that led to what looked like a gigantic bathroom.
"Holy fudgedoodles, this is awesome."
He grinned. "I take it you like it?"
"Are you kidding me? This is so epic!" I exclaimed, heading towards the bathroom.
A Jacuzzi! Oh my God. I loved this place.
"Whoaaaaaa..." I said in awe.
"Well, I'm going to let you shower, and sleep. You deserve it," he said apologetically. "Is there anything you need?"
"Well... are there any clothes?" I asked, looking down at my outfit, which consisted of skinny jeans, a tank top and flats.
"Oh, there's a closet over here..." he pointed to a door. When I stepped in and saw racks full of clothing.
"I'm pretty sure they're your size."
I whirled around. "How on earth do you know my size?" I narrowed my eyes.
"Uh..."
"I don't wanna know!" I said, grimacing. "Well, I'm going to shower now..."
"Oh, right, sorry." He left, speedwalking out of the room.
"Thanks for everything!" I shouted, hoping he'd hear me.
I picked out some pyjamas, and got into the shower, where I spent half an hour just standing under the hot water. I got into my PJ's, climbed into the bed and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
