(Y/N) is not what one would call 'normal'. Usually, being abnormal shows a sense of pride and originality not shown in the general populous. Some may have a hidden talent such as playing an instrument with overwhelming skill, others may write poetry worthy of William Shakespeare himself. These do not apply to (Y/N). Not to say that she doesn't have a talent! Well she has a talent, if you could call it that. (Y/N) may not be able to play an instrument or write elegant poetry, but she is the best actor you will ever know. No, she does not perform. Everyday life is her stage, the facade she kept up every single day was her award winning performance, she was sure not even the highest paid actor could beat her. No one knows, no one can know and (Y/N) will make sure of it. What is (Y/N)'s dark secret you may ask? Well, let's start at the beginning shall we?
(Y/N) started out relatively normal although she had been more than subpar in school. She had always been one of the best in all of her classes. Her life seemed perfect, she had seemingly wealthy parents, incredible grades, and got almost anything she wanted. But alas, as usual, these were not as pretty on paper. Yes, her parents were wealthy very wealthy in fact, but mother and father dearest did not appreciate (Y/N)'s efforts to be a good child instead shining the light on her younger and dare I say cuter sister Julia. Julia irked (Y/N) to say the least it was only a matter of time till she, let's put it politely, snapped.
This 'snap' happened one day after Julia had come back from one of her ballet classes. Julia had began her usual routine of boasting and asking "offhandedly" what (Y/N)'s talent was. Usually (Y/N) would remain passive and respond with an, "I'm not completely sure yet". For some reason this was the straw that broke the camel's back. No sooner after Julia had asked (Y/N) took on a darker persona and lunged for the younger child's neck and began strangling her. After a minute of screaming (Y/N)'s father tore her off of poor Julia and threw her across the room. Julia began screaming and sobbing that (Y/N) was the devil and for her to stay away. Neither of the parents bothered to check on (Y/N)'s well being instead cradling Julia and glaring at (Y/N) who was sobbing hysterically. After this they took young (Y/N) to see a medical professional.
After many a meeting with some not so kind doctors (Y/N) was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder. After her parents asked what in god's name that meant the doctor responded by saying that it was like their child had more than one person living in their head. Julia had stuck her nose up responded, "Is one of them the devil?" Her parents ignored this comment and asked how many "people" there were inside her head. The doctor glanced at (Y/N) and grinned maliciously, "I haven't tested that yet" he grinned. After much poking and prodding which ended up being akin to torture, it was found that dear (Y/N) had not two but three personalities. (Y/N)'s parent's, seeing such shame in the whole situation, asked to have no record anywhere of (Y/N) having such a disease available. The doctor did as he was told after being paid a handsome amount of money. Nothing had been explained to (Y/N) so everything was overly confusing.
The following years of (Y/N)'s life were a living hell. School became more of a prison, she was pushed around, taunted for being crazy, and ignored. As (Y/N) got older, she dug deeper into the science of her condition and learned to live with the two other beings battling in her head. One persona was unpredictable and violent. (Y/N) had dubbed this version of her Hyde. "Hyde" was the being that had tried to kill Julia in cold blood. Hyde was prideful and arrogant, unable to see the error in it's ways, cold and unfeeling. The second (Y/N) had simply begun to call "Two". "Two" was in reality a spineless coward that hid behind (Y/N)'s calm facade. Two was content with letting Hyde take over when they managed to slip past (Y/N) in a moment of weakness. Two could be described as overly emotional in every sense of the word, not caring whether it got a chance to be a part of (Y/N) or not.
With (Y/N) constantly being plagued with thoughts of either ripping someone's throat out or lying down on the floor and sobbing incoherently it was extremely difficult for (Y/N). Eventually she had found a suitable job for her, a simple job being a police captain's assistant at the GCPD. In hindsight this was not the best decision (Y/N) ever made. Everyday was packed with stress and trying to supress Hyde who was growing stronger every day. The only good thing -or bad, whichever way you choose to look at it- was (Y/N)'s newfound friendship with Edward Nygma, a quirky forensic scientist.
At first, (Y/N) actively tried to avoid Edward in fear of getting close to him and either hurting him or herself. After Edward began to notice her absence he sought her out in between breaks. Her best attempts and ignoring the riddle loving man thwarted, (Y/N) succumbed and let herself find some happiness in her one friend. (Y/N) spent more and more time with Edward and slowly began to realize that she had developed a "small" crush. In the beginning (Y/N) thought she might at least have a chance with him, this belief was crushed after Edward ranted on and on to (Y/N) about what he called crush (which was really an infatuation) with Kristen Kringle. As soon as Edward had told her this (Y/N) left to the restroom.
As (Y/N) sat there, Hyde and Two were torn on whether to go on a killing spree or confess their feelings then promptly stab themself and drift out of the world in a fit of glory.
(Y/N) grabbed her head and squeezed her eyes shut as tightly as she could manage, "Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP," she screamed as tears streamed down her pale face. In the corner of her eye (Y/N) saw Two cower and back into a corner. Hyde scoffed, "What are you gonna do about it dear? You've always been weak. You don't have the skill or the spine to do anything to make a decision hm? Why don't you let me take over for just a day or two, I'll settle this. We'll get Ed, that bitch Kristen was it? Will be decomposing in the river, simple as that. It will be the perfect happy ending."
"No," (Y/N) murmured decidedly as silent tears streamed down her face, "I'll never let you take over. You're evil, the reason why we're so alone..."
Hyde smirked deviously and approached (Y/N), "Poor, poor (Y/N). So broken so... boring. There's no reason to hide the truth both of us know what needs to be done. Once Kristen is out of the way, we don't have to be alone. We all win. You and Two get to live the rest of your miserable lives convincing yourselves it's all ok while I finally get another chance to steer. Or, you could go on suffering either way I don't care, I enjoy watching both of you suffer."
(Y/N) finally stopped crying while Two continued whimpering and sniffling, "Let me get one thing straight," (Y/N) spoke commandingly, "I am in control and I am going to stay in control for the foreseeable future." (Y/N) splashed water on her face and stared down at the sink.
Hyde growled, "You think you're strong now (Y/N) but I know you, I AM you and I know for a fact that it's only a matter of time till you snap, and when you do I'll be there."
With that the voices abruptly stopped and (Y/N) regained composure. After a few more moments she straightened her posture and trudged out of the restroom. When she greeted Edward again she was met by a concerned face.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" (Y/N) snapped.
"S-sorry I just heard you in the restroom..." Edward looked down and blushed furiously.
(Y/N) chuckled nervously, "That's a little creepy don't you think?"
Edward shifted from foot to foot "W-well, sorry I-I just thought I heard you arguing with yourself..." Edward looked down, "It sounded like you were talking to multiple voices... (Y/N)... are you hearing voices?"
Hyde chuckled darkly from inside (Y/N)'s head, "Oh no what are you gonna do (Y/N)? He probably hates you now, there's no use lying, you were always a terrible fibber when you were asked direct questions," from somewhere else in her mind Two began whimpering and mumbling incoherently. It was all too much. (Y/N)'s usually rigid composure broke as she began shaking uncontrollably. Hyde began to laugh even harder.
"I-I h-have to g-g-go." (Y/N) stuttered as she began a fast pace towards the door. Hyde laughed, "Oh nice one (Y/N), you were always good at one thing huh? Running away has always been your speciality. Come on (Y/N), let me take over, just for one day? Please?"
"Fine... fine," (Y/N) sobbed, "Go ahead, I don't care anymore do whatever you want." Hyde cackled.
Before (Y/N) could completely become Hyde and exit the building she felt someone grab her hand. As Hyde gained complete control, she whipped around and prepared to strangle and or claw the eyes out of anyone who dared touch her. Just before she could make a grab for this mystery person's eyes, she recognized them as Edward.
"Oh hi Ed," Hyde smirked and ripped her hand out of his grip, "how are you dear?"
Edward cleared his throat, "Y-you must be the darker (Y/N) huh? The human mind sure is funny..."
"Very astute observations sweety, what do you want?"
Edward smirked as his demeanor became darker, "Well the other version of me finally found something in common with you."
Hyde smirked, "So you're crazy too?"
"Guilty," Edward grinned, "Now comes the real question, do you want to go have some, ahem, fun dear?"
Hyde grinned madly, "Oh believe me, I'd love nothing more."
