24. Thunders

"Uhm..ye-yeah" she stutters but keeps eating small bites.
While she continuously gulps water, Hoseok takes her plate and offers his food to her.
He understood that she cannot deny anything so he immediately orders a vanilla ice cream.

"Thank y-you" Sumi says before stuffing her face with the ice cream, making Hoseok chuckle.

Almost done with the day, both of them takes a silent walk on the wayside.
The cloudy sky and the windy environment making both their hearts flutter for no reason.
Hoseok was used to this feeling ever since he got married but, this is still new to Sumi.

She doesn't know the name or meaning to this feeling. However, she definitely is enjoying the adrenaline rush every time Hoseok smiles at her, goes close to her, talk to her.

When they cross a park filled with kids and their parents, both of them decided to take a break and enjoy the moment.

Enjoying the cool breeze, Hoseok looks at the kids running towards Sumi.
The thing that shocked him the most was, Sumi isn't scared to be around kids. She looked really happy and cheerful around them, and so did the kids around her.
He never watched Sumi smile that happily before, not even when Mickey came into their life.

The children snuggle into her chest and play with her hair while squealing in happiness.
The beautiful day comes to an end when the couple arrives home.

"Thank- thanks for today" Sumi says shyly and smiles at him before walking away to their room.

"Ahh.." Hoseok groans while fisting the air in happiness.

Today was the best day in his life. Wishing more happy days with his wife, he sighs in relief and collapses on the couch, drifting into sleep.

Hours later, the loud thunders woke up Sumi. She isn't scared of them in general but somehow being alone made her more scared.

Pulling the blanket over her face, she shuts her eyes tightly while closing her ears but that didn't stop scaring her. She slowly pulls the blanket down and looks at the shadows of trees on the bedroom's wall.
The trees that looked beautiful during the day,
looked creepy at night.

After contemplating for a while, she takes her blue blanket with her and slowly walks down the stairs. Seeing Hoseok sleeping on the couch calms her down a bit. She wanted to wake him up but stopped because she didn't want to disturb his sleep.

Grabbing a small pillow from beside Hoseok, she places it on the floor next to the couch and sleeps on it quietly before pulling the blanket over her cold body.

The carpet wasn't helping her body from getting more cold. The cool breeze coming from the unknown places left Sumi shivering.

After hearing the faint noises coming from beside him, Hoseok wakes up and looks around with one eye open. He couldn't find any living beings nearby except Mickey who's fast asleep.
He tries going back to sleep again but this time he hears a soft sneeze.

He immediately looks beside the couch and sees Sumi shivering under the thin blanket. His eyes widen in surprise looking at his wife in that situation.

"Su-Sumi..?" He taps her shoulder with his hand but she doesn't budge.

Picking her up in his arms, Hoseok slowly takes the stairs and put her on the bed before tucking her in. He turns on the heater in the room and brushes her hair softly while staring at her.

When he was about to stand, Sumi grabs his wrist and looks at him with tears dwelling in her eyes. The moon light making her tears shine, Hoseok couldn't look away from her even for a millisecond.

"Please stay.."
