Chapter 10 - Betray And Forgive

I stared at his deep blue eyes. They look so much like mine. His face structure that matched everything about him. I don't know why I am thinking things like that. Maybe because I am bored and I am here with this man, talking nonsense. He sometimes open and close his mouth making a low noise. I raised an eyebrow when he said " Daughter ". Nobody talks to me like that. He better not claim to be my father, or else I would smack him if it is true.

I heard screeches of cars from behind me. I looked there and saw about three cars lining up. The door opened and Mom ran towards me giving me a tight hug. She danced slightly and later stopped but she didn't let go of me. She was stady like she is frozen.

" Henry .... ? " Her soft voice stumbled to my ear. She knows him? No. He can't be. I know I love my father but it hurts to see him coming back after leaving us.

" Korina ..... " My Mom let go of me. She took a few steps toward Henry who had a huge smile on his face like he saw a long lost friend.

I raised both my eyebrows. What's this? A long lost reunion? How was Mom going to react? Slap him maybe? To my own shock, Mom hugged him as if they were lovers. I started to feel like an idiot. Maybe he was really my Dad and I'm just afraid to accept the fact that he is back. But why would I be? Thoughts went psycho inside my head.

" Everyone, isn't it happy. T-to see your father again. " Mom looked at all of us.

Everyone was shocked too. I can see it in their eyes. They were expecting me to be the first to react or do something since I am the one closest to his heart. But I just stood still. Just like the others. Thinking what to do. I felt a small ounce of heat in my hands. It hurted and I scracthed it gently. Someone held my hand. Someone cold, and the pain flew away.

" Wha-" I said.

" No need for explanation. Come with me. You all wait there. " I looked up and D-d-ad was holding my hand. Just like those old days back in the forest.

He led me to the lab. Just like the ones Mr. Villana had. But this time it was huge. The space was wide. The place was not that dark and you can see elegancy in every corner. There was a very huge door in the very dead end. Dad typed in some sort of password and the huge steel door opened. We both got in. A bunch of scientists were there. Talking and stuff.

" Shall we begin? " He asked.

" Begin what? "

" Your transfer of powers. "

" Oh. Of course. Yes. "

" Mind if you hop in here. " He pointed to another capsule-bed that looked more scary than the one I recently got into.

" What's that thing going to do to me? "

" Well, we are just going to suck the excess heat in your body. It is the best solution we can think. No worries. We are 99% sure that this will work. " He smiled as if it were just that simple.

" I need a moment. " I went outside the room and banged my head to the wall. What is this all about. If only I could have the life I used to have back. If only I haven't wished for anything at all.

" An asset. It could be. " 

A weird, cold and unfamiliar voice echoed through the hallway. Something near me. Someone listening to my thoughts and not my words. I looked beside and saw a small weird looking man. Who unwillingly smiled at me. He crept to my mind.
