Adrian's POV
"She'll be fine. She just needs a little rest and lots of water and after a few days, the effects will wear off." Brent mumbled under his breath, slowly slipping the dark leather-bound book back into it's case again and closing it with a soft click.
I said nothing, remaining tense as I stared at the small form on my bed, snuggled under the covers with my scent wrapping around her, making me feel more than satisfied.
She belonged here...
With me and only me.
But even as I remained still as stone in the dark corner of my room, I still felt that sense of relief wash over me at the thought of her safe... actually alright after what that frikin' idiot did to her.
Just the thought of him made my body shake in anger and my inner demon claw at my walls, begging me to finish what I started, to make him feel worse than how he made her feel,
To let him have a taste of what death felt like.
Trying to swallow back my anger, I gave my brother a stiff nod as he left the room, leaving the two of us alone in the silence.
Almost immediately, my feet slowly led me to the beautiful angel lying on my bed alone and I loomed over her, wanting..no... needing to see her face again.
The one face I could never get tired of.
With the moonlight streaming from the window highlighting her soft features, I silently watched her sleep, wanting nothing more than to curl up beside her and bring her into my chest, falling asleep with her wrapped up in my arms....
But I knew I shouldn't. I wanted to get her to like me as much as I like her, not push her away and make herself hide from me... Make herself fear me.
Like hell I'll have that.
Just the thought of her leaving me had my anger returning, having to take deep breaths just to calm myself down.
Reaching my hand out, I graced her soft, pale cheeks with the tips of my fingers, loving how she felt and how she leaned into my touch, even in her sleep.
It made my possessive side growl in approval, knowing only I could make her feel like that, that I was the only one she went near, and that she loved my touch as much as I loved hers.
I sighed, seating myself on the side of the bed but still making sure I wasn't disturbing Raine as she slept peacefully, wanting to make sure that she gets lots of rest so she could get better soon.
She just needed to...
Twirling a strand of her soft fiery orange hair with my fingers, I eyed the bruises on her face, tensing up when I saw them scattering over her face and along her neck.
No one was going to hurt her...
Never again.
And if anyone even dares to try, I chuckled darkly to myself.
There would be hell to pay.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tightly gripping the glass of water in my hands, I stiffly sat on the wooden chair, my eyes never straying away form the still unconscious green-eyed beauty.
It's been almost a day...
Hours of me going from pacing the room back and forth then watching her, silently, hoping and praying that she would just...
