Vanessa bit the nail on her thumb, as she paced back and forth. "Where the fuck is she?" She scratched her head. "They should of found her by now." She paced more quickly, making Miana get dizzy. "Vanessa, you need to calm down." She sighed. "I'm sure she didn't get far." Vanessa paced a few more minutes, before yelling out. "SO, DAMN ANNOYING!" Miana answered her phone as it rang. "We can't find her body. It probably washed down stream or was eaten." Her eyes went to Vanessa; who was yelling and screaming. "What's that?" Miana sighed, and felt a sense of guilt. "It's just an angry cat. Hurry up with the plan, and make sure no one finds out about that."
Vanessa had heard something in her ranting. "Who's an angry cat?" Miana hung up the phone. "Nothing." Vanessa plopped back on the couch. "This is getting us nowhere." She flailed on the couch, while Miana giggled. Her face then fell into a sad smile. "I'm sorry, Vanessa." She turned her head to look out the window. "Soon things will fall."
At the same time, Michelle was meditating at the old temple. She breathed in and out, trying to put the pieces together about her mother's friend, the people who attacked her, and the three vampires with Bach. "Hmm. My mother's friend is not who she seems to be, those villagers were controlled, and had killed someone before, because of the dried blood; and if so, whose controlling them. And then there's also the thing of them not chasing me in the water, and able to throw things really long distances." She pinched her nose. "This is giving me a headache." Footsteps approached her, as she sighed again. "What are you distressed about?" Michelle gave another sigh to the question. "Some things don't make sense."
She hummed. "First, Ms. Miana, keeps sending my mother letters, telling her that she needs her help with the massacres, and disappearances here in villages around where she working. Second, the villagers who attacked me, had dried blood on their weapons, and blank stares, as though they were no longer able to control their own bodies; which either means, they are dead, or just under some sort of mind control. Third, those said villagers, attacked me, without coming in the water, and were able to through their weapons long distances, not minding their appearance of weak body mass. Fourth, Back saying that Miana is not what she seems, and that you guys are hiding here." She tilted her head to the side. "To me, this sounds like a mystery, that goes back many years, and someone wants to twist and turn it to their own purposes." She looked at them. "What do you guys think of Ms. Miana? To me she seems like a woman who had her life thought out, but then something happened to change it."
She lay back on the grass. "It seems like a cool mystery to solve, but I'm not sure If I want to do it, or just try to find my mom, and leave." She looked at the sky. "There's also another thing bothering me. If there were really villages massacred, and villagers missing, then people around town would be wondering why." She pretended to smoke a pipe. "Something is amiss, Watson." She said in a British Sherlock Holmes accent. They looked at her with curiosity. "What does that mean?" She coughed. "Never mind." She stood up. "Well, there's also the possibility of your mother's friend lying to you both, in order to get you here, but... if that's the truth, then why did she need you here so badly, by sending all those letters?" They all looked at Law. He looked at their faces. "What?" Michelle scratched her head.
"Do any of you remember something? Like something you were supposed to protect, or a person per say?" Michelle hummed again. "So, it must be something really important, that you ether can't remember, or can't talk about it, and were supposed to protect, but it was either stolen, or lost." Pacing in a circle, she tried to fit the pieces together. After a few minutes, they all jumped as Liberty yelled. "Oh, come one. Let's just tell her, this is getting us nowhere, and it's making my fucking head hurt." Justice and Law glared at her. "What?! You know I'm right. We were supposed to guard it, and that woman took it from us as we were sleeping. Do you remember how much power that thing has?" Michelle at all three faces. "What are you talking about?" Law looked at his siblings and then sighed. "Fine, we'll tell you; since the cat's out of the bag." He looked at Liberty. She glared back, causing Justice to sigh, as they had a staring match. "What my siblings are trying to say, is that, the object we were supposed to protect, is something of great power. I guess you could say, it tips the laws of balance in the favor of the person who holds it."
