Can you be my date?

The Letter

Mak's Pov:

When Val found Laurie on his doorstep she made me promise that if she didn't make it that I would make sure that Val read the letter that she wrote to him if something ever happened to her.

It has been two weeks since Laurie went into the Coma. These past two weeks have been absolute hell for everyone to go through, especially Val.

We are all sitting in the waiting room like we do everyday, waiting for news on Laurie, But we didn't have to wait very long.

Laurie's doctor walked out of her room and over to us and we all stood up.

" What's the news, Doctor?" Laurie's dad asks

" It has been two weeks and she hasn't woken up yet." He tells us

" And?" Laurie's brother, Marcus adds

" Her parents need to come to a decision on whether or not we pull plug" He tells us

The doctor gives us his condolences and walks away.

Laurie's parents and siblings go get something to eat from the cafeteria and discuss what to do and my parents Peta and I sit in the waiting room.

" Mak's, Give him the letter " Mama tells me

" Mama, Laurie told me to give it to him if she doesn't make it. Laurie is still alive." I tell my mother

" Mak's, Val needs to know what that letter says. Laurie may not make it but He needs to know what she wrote for him" Mama tells me

" Your right, Mama. He should know" I tell my mother

I look over at my Little brother and see him with a heartbroken look on his face.

" Val, Can I speak with you?" I ask Val catching his attention

Val nodded his head and stood up and followed me to the hallway.

" What do you need, Mak's?" Val asks me

" Val, Laurie wanted me to give you the letter if she didn't make it but I think you should read it now" I tell Val giving him the letter

" Mak's, I don't think I can read it." Val tells me

" Yes you can. Val, Laurie would want you to read it" I tell Val giving him the letter

Val looks at me and I can see the pain in his eyes.

I pulled my little brother into my arms and hugged him and after we pulled back he walked away in the direction of Laurie's hospital room.

I walked back to the waiting room and sat down with my parents and Peta.

" How did It go?" Papa asks me

" It went okay." I say letting out a sigh

" How is he handling it?" Peta asks me

" He is hurting. Just by looking at him I could see the pain in his eyes. He really loves her." I tell them

" Do you think that he will be okay?" Mama asks me

" I know that Val will be okay but it will take time" I tell them

After a while of talking we all sit in quiet but all I can think about is Val and the pain that I saw in his eyes earlier.

Val is my little brother and I always told myself that I would be there for him when he needed me but I'm not entirely sure that I will know how to be there for him.

I have never gone through something like this but irregardless I will be there for Val.
