24:  Non-Existing Postcards

Sasha leaped over the fence which marked the boundary between Willow Forest and the Death Wolf Zone.

Laughing, she leaped over the terrain towards the House of Fire, aware that Rock and Pebble were directly behind her.

The familiar, grey stone building emerged from the trees and the Ash Alps (which she had Felix to thank for).  She burst through the door, and ran to the Walkie-Talkie on the wall, which was connected to identical machines in the other Houses, as well as all the rooms in the House of All (minus the toilets...)

She switched it on, and punched all the buttons at the same time, connecting it to every machine.  Rock and Pebble joined her.

She paused for a second to catch her breath.  Then, she called out:

Sasha Brunner:  You guys, we're back!

Rock Miner:  Yes we are!

Pebble Miner:  See?

It took a few moments for the message to actually kick on, before everybody replied at once, some people cheered, some clapped.  The poodle from Air barked.  The first noticeable remark though came from her brother's nemesis.

Olivia Green:  EMERGENCY.  COUNCILLOR.  MEETING.  NOW.

Alice Gardiner:  You're back!

Pebble Miner:  I KNOW!

Alyn Geman:  Guys, you totally need to see what Jamie...

Jamie Stream:  It wasn't that bad.

Tom Laurence:  Ooh!  I remember what I was going to say now!  We-

Eve Jenkins:  You forgot to send me a postcard!

Sasha had to shout to be heard above all the uproar.

Sasha Brunner:  Yeah.  Was a tiny bit busy you know, spying on Fe-

The noise stopped.

Emma Newton:  Wait, what?

Soon, everyone (excluding the Councillors) was firing questions.  Where were you?  Why did Rock and Pebble go missing?  Where was Sasha the time before?  What are the Councillor meetings actually about?  And, above all, what happened to that boy from Fire?

Olivia Green:  Ethan, do it now.

Ethan Fellow:  Err, do what?

Olivia Green:  Ethan, you know what I mean.  NOW!

The noise was cut off.  Ethan had disabled the walkie-talkies, switching them all off so no more questions could be asked.

And no answers could be forced.

Sasha looked at Rock.  Rock looked at Pebble.  Pebble looked at Sasha.

They ran without faltering all the way to the lounge at the House of All.
