The sheer weight behind the creature's blow was enough to crack straight through the tree trunk, sending the entire thing crashing to the ground. The creature stood at only seven feet tall, but its body was round with bulging muscles, and the unnatural strength of a demon made it that much more dangerous.
Renatta flipped backwards away from the strike and landed beside her friends. Daveon, who was directly beside her, had hung up his phone just a moment before.
"Who called you?" asked Deena, who was standing on his opposite side.
"It was Eldrian," he replied. "They were going to go do something with Tyreth."
"You told him not to come here, yeah?"
"That's right. We can handle this creature. This might be his only chance to deal with that elf."
Before they knew it, the hulking frame of the demon was looming over them. It was striped red and white, like candy cane, from head to toe, and two beady eyes were all the features on its body otherwise.
"That is right! Of course we can," Renatta called out.
Deena crossed her arms. "Lucy trusted us with taking it down, and that's exactly what we'll do. Eldrian can handle himself. We can meet back up after we send this thing back to Hell."
The demon thrusted the flat of its foot outwards in the direction of the three, and when it did, the leg unravelled like a decoration of ribbons. This allowed the strike to fire nearby twenty feet forwards, whizzing past Deena's head to crash against another tree, which shattered the wood into pieces. It snapped back even faster than it extended—a deadly spring.
Renatta grabbed both of her chakrams off her sides, leapt into the air, and released them with a devastating velocity towards the demon. They formed a helix path through the air and burst into flames. Both circled around it before one crashed against its chest, causing a roar of pain to burst from its non-existent mouth. It retracted from his body and made its way soaring back to its owner, while the other spun around to went for its throat.
This time, the head of the demon leapt upwards as its neck stretched out in a manner exactly like its leg previously, causing the chakram to miss by only a few centimetres. Renatta snagged both of her weapons from the air, and the momentum spun her into a readied stance.
"This springy monster is a pain in the butt," she muttered.
Both of Deena's hands swung to the sides. Bands of dark magic began to swirl up her arms to the tips of her fingers as a spell began to manifest.
The demon clearly saw the witch, and it reacted with a wound-back throw of his fist in her direction. The arm unravelled just like before, but as the fist soared through the air to make contact with her face, she didn't flinch.
She saw something it didn't. Vines propelled from the soil behind him with Daveon standing behind them, and they moved to wrap around the ribbons of the demon's arms while it was stretched. The vines threw the strike to the side. Not only did it miss Deena completely, but when it retracted, the vines were now trapped within its arm, causing the limb to dangle loose.
It grunted in frustration and panic as it tried to tear itself free. However, Daveon's web of vines was dangled deep, and the creature didn't have nearly enough time.
Deena slammed together her palms, and thrust the tips of her fingers forwards. It released the shadow magic in the shape of a long, flat arrow, which soared through the air towards the torso of the beast. Death Arrow!
When it came close, it arced up and through the body of the demon before disappearing up into the sky, leaving behind a fading trail of blackness. Its beady eyes quivered with pain. A moment later, it collapsed to its knees, and then to its face. Its body exploded into a cloud of smoke.
