They all sat around Deena's dining room table as if they were attending a business meeting, but instead of a bunch of old white men, they were a colourful crew of bizarre individuals discussing potentially apocalyptic events. It was no secret that wizards acted odd—even looked odd. Though, hardly a soul knew wizard were even real, so it didn't really matter, and it wouldn't be wise to assume every hipster you saw on the street was a wizard in disguise.
"So that's what Arly and I know so far," Eldrian finished explaining. "It's another way for Tyreth to get power, like the Elixir all over again. So I just need to make sure he doesn't get it, even if nobody does. And I need to head there on my own."
"Why?" asked Kevin. "If we all go, we'll have a small army ready to fight! We can kick Tyreth's butt back to his own dimension."
"I know. But that's the problem. It could be really bad to do that."
"I get it," Deena spoke up. "A battalion of wizards showing up together, in another country, possibly with the intent to steal power. We'd go down in history as the biggest magical threat on Earth. Like an uprising. We aren't prepared to handle the horrible backlash that would cause. It's already dangerous enough that we all stay around each other."
"And you could all be seen," Arlandria added.
"Noah already knows about us," said Kevin.
Eldrian shook his head. "It could be worse than that. Depending on who knows about this legend, there could be agents sent by different countries there. Imagine if all of our identities were discovered by several other countries, and we had a globe of spellbreakers chasing after us. We can't take that risk. This isn't a situation for arms. This needs tact."
"You best call us if anything happens, Eldrian," Daveon demanded.
"I promise," Eldrian replied. "If anything goes wrong, I'll either run back or call you guys to help. I won't bite off more than I can chew."
Deena rolled her eyes.
"I do not understand any of this," said Renatta. "But please be careful."
"Since this is happening tomorrow, allow me to make some tea for us today. We definitely need some help relaxing," Arlandria said with a worried smile as she pulled herself up from the table.
"I'll help. It's my house," Deena responded.
The two stepped over to the kitchen counter, and began retrieving cups, a pot, and the tea. Arlandria titled her head in their direction is she plugged the kettle into the wall, and spoke.
"Daveon. I heard that you're from a place much farther than the rest of those here. You as well, Renatta. Do either of you know of teas that may be less popular around here? I've only began experiencing the food Canada has to offer, but it leaves me wondering just how diverse the world is."
Renatta raised her hand triumphantly. "India is very famous for their teas! There are many. My mother only knew how to brew the most simple teas, though. She was not that much of a cook. Milk tea is delicious though."
Daveon chuckled. "I've had several kinds. We have a drink where I'm from called coca tea, that's illegal in a lot of places, as you could imagine. The coca plant is used to make cocaine. But you can actually use the plant, and decocainize it."
"Yeah, Arly," Eldrian added. "That drink you tried comes from that. The bubbly one you said you didn't like."
Arlandria stuck our her tongue. "I'm not a fan of your bubbly drinks. I'll stick with things like tea for now."
She placed down a cup for each of those at the table, and Deena poured the steaming, sweet beverage out to fill each of them to the brim. Nobody wanted to mention that given her height, it would have been easier for the roles to be reversed.
